Did you know that many of the talk radio hosts that you listen to on a regular basis use the same company to broadcast their shows? Clear Channel boasts names like Glenn Beck, Rush Limbaugh, Sean Hannity, Mark Levin, and even Coast to Coast AM!
Michael Savage is TRN, but is on a lot of Clear Channel stations.
Clear Channel is the largest owner of radio stations in the United State [...]
Did you know that Clear Channel is owned (in large part) by Bain Capital?
On Friday, November 17, 2006, Clear Channel announced that it was going private and selling off almost one-third of its radio assets... The buyers, led by Bain Capital Partners and Thomas H. Lee Partners, agreed to pay $26.7 billion for the company.
Bain Capital was founded by Mitt Romney. Mitt is retired now, but he still profits from Bain Capital according to the New York Times.
Clear Channel Communications is a privately owned company controlled by the private equity companies Bain Capital Partners LLC and Thomas H. Lee Partners LP. Clear Channel was sold for $18.7 billion in cash plus the assumption of $8 billion in debt. The transaction closed on July 24, 2008. The operating company which technically owns Clear Channel is called CC Media Holdings, Inc.
Think about that the next time you're flipping channels on the radio and realize that Rush Limbaugh calls the candidates "Romney", "Non-Romney", and "Loony"...
Why do these other candidates get called "Non-Romney"?
Do you think you'll be hearing about this story in most of the media sources you frequent?
Then it's up to you to get the word out. (Especially since by sharing tips like this I help cement that I won't ever become one of those big names in talk radio)

It doesn’t matter to Rush WHO owns the company. It’s not something folks normally talk about.
BTW, WHO owns CNN? ABC? NMC? MSNBC?
Does it really matter?
You are being VERY silly ....

On the Bain payroll, no doubt. [ominous music]

You need to learn how to post from your phone.
Yeah, Rush himself brought this up on his show a couple of weeks ago.
(yawn)
Welcome to Free Republic.
Tinfoil? Are you denying that Rush defended his employer Bain Capital with arguments otherwise inexplicable for a conservative? Even Rush is forced to admit that now.
Oh, I get it!
We’re suppsed to believe that because Rush works for this station he MUST defend Bain. LOL! Rush is DEFENDING CAPITLAIMS whether it is Bain or another outfit not willing to keep DEAD WEIGHT in the company. Sometimes the DEAD WEIGHT can be turned around. Other times it can be sold off to another buyer and other times it is SHUT DOWN because there is no hope.
The PRIVATE SECTOR, unlike GOVERNMENT, can’t print up money and keep dead weight around. The private sector has tomake money or close. It’s that simple.
In the 2008 election I was surprised at Rush’s positive attitude toward Romney. But I’ve not seen that at all in this cycle. Quite the opposite, in fact.
I haven’t listened to Savage in some time. He had some righteous rants at times that were hilarious to listen to. He’s supporting ROmney....allrighty.
IF Romney gets this nomination, then I can’t blame Rush for urging people to vote for him vs. obama. But that’s a big IF still. There has only been one primary and one caucus so far. I’m getting tired of our Republican candidates being picked by just a few people and ESPECIALLY in states that allow open primaries where democrats are also voting for our candidate. Hopefully more Rep. are realizing this urging by the media/others for everyone but the front two to drop out of the race is senseless. Right now it’s Romney vs. Paul. If anyone in their right mind thinks Paul is a Rep. candidate, well, they’re not in their right mind.
You want to believe the crap that a 20 something liberal democrat writes then go ahead. This thread shouldn't even have been allowed to be posted........
You really need to call Rush’s show.
Whatever you're smoking, try it without the PCP.
Rush did not buy up Clear Channel. Welcome yourself.
This is great! This is the FR that I know and admire. I had wondered lately where it had gone. I’ve become pretty disgusted with people make claims they can’t back up or let their stream of consciousness dictate what they will write instead of being thoughtful, and attacking based on looks, or possible gender identity, or whatever - everything but the ideas and facts being presented.
Thank you, aruanan, and others on this thread.
Much ado about nothing.... if you think someone is giving Rush “marching orders” of what to talk about on the radio, you’re nuttier than Ron Paul, who is nuttier than squirrel poop in a Texas pecan grove.
Some might care who he's in the tank for. My concern is whether or not any on air talent can tell the truth when it's detrimental to the corporate bottom line. And, no. I don't believe they can.
The Examiner is not good enough for you? The otherwise liberal MSM will not touch this story. Why do you think? Perhaps this story hits too close to home for the rest of the MSM.
