With the New Hampshire primaries behind the GOP and South Carolina on the horizon, Mitt Romney seems the likely presidential candidate. Perhaps surprisingly, Romney’s Mormonism has yet to be a major stumbling block, and as time passes it doesn’t appear that it will become a hindrance.
But let’s consider another question. Could America vote for a Muslim?
Say a Muslim arrived on the scene with powerful and equitable ideas and challenged the status quo. Perhaps doubts are cast that a Muslim could actually become president, but the same was once said about Catholics and people of color.
One stumbling block to the potential Muslim candidate would be that many people think America is a “Christian nation.” At one time even this would have been questioned. If you had said to the predecessors to what would become the United States that “America is a Puritan nation” they likely would have agreed.
Simply put, there very well could come a day when a president who prays to Allah sits in the Oval Office. As Christian privilege slowly erodes due to tidal waves of globalization and pluralism, America’s hope is that religious differences will not erode but become respected. This is thanks in large part to the Constitution.
Just this week the Tenth Circuit Court of Appeals unanimously upheld a lower court order striking down an Oklahoma constitutional amendment that would prevent state courts from considering Sharia law. The decision is based not on respect for Muslim tradition, but rather for the First Amendment -- the same First Amendment that protected Baptists early in the American experience.
If anyone should be the greatest allies with Muslims in America, it is Baptists. Yet time after time many Baptists lead the charge against religious differences, even at the risk of harming their own self-interest. Many Baptists have kowtowed to political power in order to protect their power and privilege, in the process sacrificing their prophetic voice.
As Roger Williams stated in The Bloudy Tenent of Persecution for Cause of Conscience, “the blood of so many hundred thousand souls of Protestants and papists, spilled in the wars of present and former ages for their respective consciences, is not required nor accepted by Jesus Christ the Prince of Peace.”
A truly Christian nation not only imposes no formal religion on its citizens but also fosters freedom to express one’s own conscience – Muslim, Mormon or whatever.

Nope. The history of Islam in the lands where it existed prior to the founding of the US is one of conquest, tyranny, savagery, and poverty. The US, the culmination of Western Civilization, the penultimate achievement of the Enlightenment, cannot be allowed to fall victim to Muhammed’s monumental fraud.
At the present time,January 15,2012, we current have one ,a muslim, that occupies the White house. he was placed there on November 4, 2008 by a majority of those that voted.

I hope not. As a Catholic, I'd be in mortal danger. The name "Puritan" was derived from the desire to "purify" the Church of England of those "blasphemous" Catholics and their "demonic" influences. Anything, up to and including killing Catholics was accepted.
If you celebrate Christmas, you'd better hope not, too. Puritans severely punished those who celebrated Christmas. So, I'm just going to assume that the author never got around to reading a biography of Oliver Cromwell and just wrote "Puritan" because it has a nice ring to it.

A Christian Nation, which is how the Founders saw us, in no way equates to a Puritan Nation. John Adams was raised in a Puritan home, and was vehemently against Freemasons as a consequence. But the type of Puritanism which originally came here was very different 100 years or so later when Adams was born.

Police said that during an investigation, they found a pile of human feces by his bed. Investigators believe Nahidmobarekeh would dry the feces, either by microwave or just letting it sit out, grate it up with a cheese grater and then sprinkle it at the store. A young boy, maybe 3 years old, was later seen on the surveillance tape, eating one of the defiled cookies.
There were consistent complaints about foul smelling cookies and cakes which led to investigations and apprehension of the muslim pastry Chef."
DHS Uncovers Islamic Plot to Poison Food in U.S. Hotels and Restaurants
"The Department of Homeland Security (DHS) has discovered a "plot to poison food in U.S. hotels and restaurants, CBS News reports.
The plot, uncovered earlier this year, involved the simultaneous poisoning of food served in hotels and restaurants across the U.S. over a single weekend. Two different poisons, ricin and cyanide, would be slipped into salad bars and buffets.
According to CBS, a "key intelligence source" confirmed that the threat was "credible." So credible, in fact, that the DHS, Department of Agriculture and the FDA briefed key security officers in the hotel and restaurant industries about the attack.
Officials believe that those behind the plot may be tied to the Yemeni-based al-Qaida in the Arabian Peninsula (AQAP). In October, AQAP attempted a cargo bombing scheme, in which explosives were placed in two packages shipped to Chicago addresses.

Five Muslim soldiers arrested over Fort Jackson poison probe: report
"Five individuals were arrested amid a probe into food poisoning at Fort Jackson U.S. military base, Fox News reported on Thursday (EST).
Sources told Fox the five men were detained in December over allegations that they attempted to poison the food supply at the South Carolina base.
They were all part of the base's Arabic translation training program, referred to in the Army as "Lima 09".
"Each of them uses Arabic as his first language," one source told Fox News.
In an earlier report, before the arrests emerged, a military source told Fox News the suspects were Muslims.
If I could find then, 5 examples of Christians tampering with food, would you no longer frequent establishments that employ Christians?
You place your trust where you like and I'll place my trust where I like.
And I don't trust muslims.

FBI investigates food freight thefts
Snips: The FBI found a common thread to the scam: drivers and dispatchers with foreign accents, fake trucking company records and loads of meat that never showed up.
The thieves convinced transportation companies they were experienced haulers who could truck beef, pork and cheese from Texas, Idaho and Kansas facilities and drive them to their destinations, according to an ongoing FBI investigation.
On Aug. 18, a man with a subtle accent who said he was a dispatcher with Gary Costin Trucking of Brea, Calif., called Redline. The caller provided Redline representatives with phone and fax numbers and two references without last names, court records show.
When Redline officials called the references, a man in Illinois and another in Oregon — both with subtle accents — vouched for the dispatcher, according to the affidavit.
Redline obtained a faxed copy of the liability insurance certificate from an Orange, Calif., agency and spoke to someone there who also had a “heavy foreign accent,” the document said.
That’s quite an impressive number, considering there are millions of Muslims living and working in America.
“There seem to indeed be a number of people here willing to condemn all Muslims, even their fellow citizens, even those serving in our armed forces or as first responders. I have a feeling though that they won’t mind if their heart surgeon turns out to be Muslim.”

Any adherent to a religion which has a text mandating the lying to unbelievers in order to forward the “faith”; dictates the death of Jews; and mandates that all non-believers be either converted (at the tip of a blade if necessary), enslaved or murdered, is an individual that would NEVER trust enough with my vote.
That “faith” is the only “religion” which I do not trust. I refuse to ever trust any individual which chooses to follow that “faith”.
