Two women will be arraigned Friday on charges stemming from the beating of a teenage girl on a MAX train.
YouTube video from the Dec. 26 attack surfaced this week, sparking outrage in the Portland area. It showed a 14-year-old girl being attacked by three other passengers on a MAX Green Line train in southeast Portland.
The cell phone video also showed others who appeared to be celebrating the attack. It didn't appear that any MAX passengers tried to intervene or stop the attack.
On Thursday, police arrested 38-year-old Selena Harris, her 18-year-old daughter Rakeshia Burns, and Burns' 16- and 13-year-old half-sisters.
The mother is being charged with hindering prosecution because officers said she hid her kids from the police and lied to keep them from getting arrested.
Her daughters are charged with assault, disorderly conduct, riot, harassment and interfering with public transportation.
Police said the YouTube video helped in the investigation -- they shared the video with the Portland Police Bureau's Youth Services Division and began to identify the suspects. Additional tips came in to investigators after the video was seen on local newscasts earlier this week.
Burns and Harris were booked into the Multnomah County Jail and will be arraigned tomorrow.
The two juvenile girls were lodged at the Donald E. Long Juvenile Detention Home.
“yet, they’re completely silent when a hate crime is perpetrated against a young white girl right here in the good old US of A”
It doesn’t promote a liberal ‘Cause!’, so it doesn’t fit the pre-approved media management narrative, so it must be ignored.
She may be the bravest girl in the world, but she is an airhead.
When's the headline:
Obama/Holder Dept. of Just Us asks certain videos be removed from Internet
Only Police "Acting stupid" to be Allowed On 'Net
"Videos of hate crimes will also be allowed, the typical white folks acting out against minorities," said a Dept. of Just Us spokesman
>>Rakeshia. I dont even have to watch the video<<
Those pesky Amish at it again...
The biggest problem with public transportation is the public it transports.
The zookeepers must have their hands full.
I’ve never been the target of violence or robbery, but was often the target of sexual harassment while walking in the city or taking public transit there. Thank God for the car and the suburbs.
Back when I rode, the young black men would stake out their territory in an aggressive way, legs sprawled, ten seats marked out by three of them. There were robberies; a woman was followed home after a bus ride and raped and murdered, but the young black women weren’t a threat and there were not these racial attacks where the only point is to hurt and degrade someone, and of course, to stake out territory.
What do you consider an airhead to be defined as?
A space cadet.
I don’t care what anyone says. The attack and hooting, looks and sounds like chimpanzees. The style of hitting, the monkey hooting and screaming,, a few even literally start swinging from overhead bars.
Don’t take my word for it,, watch the video. I defy anyone to tell me im imagining it.

Agree. She probably could have occupied their minds if there was one of those 10 cent peanut machines nearby.
Another problem is that public transportation is a vector for all sorts of contagious diseases. How much more use of the overburdened health care system gets used by people who use public transportation rather than individual cars?
“She is an airhead.”
She is a 14 year old girl in America in 2012.
She should not tbe the subject of criticism.
Criticism is deserved of the animals that picked a fight with a younger, smaller person and ganged up her 3 on 1, typical subhuman style.
like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like.......................................................................
You probably want to read up on Charles Yerkes, and the rampant crime on his intra-city electric rail system in Chicago in what was the closest thing to public transportation in the late 1800s.
(The way Yerkes built the system was a crime in itself...)
Not to mention two of them were adults assaulting a minor.
I agree she is hardly an airhead. For a 14 yr old she does do a decent job of describing what happened and her reaction to the assault was pretty mature too. She did her best to try and defuse the situation but failed due to the fact that her attackers are nothing but troglodytic animals.
