South Carolina GOP leader Patrick Haddon, who formerly supported Texas Gov. Rick Perry in the 2012 presidential primary, yesterday announced his endorsement of Rick Santorum.
"After looking at all the candidates and their political careers, and looking for a true conservative that has been fighting for real Republican causes, there is only one candidate that has been a consistent conservative fighting [for] family values and supporting pro-life issues," said Haddon, former chairman of the Greenville County GOP. "That is why Shelly and I are proud to endorse Senator Rick Santorum for President of the United States."
Haddon's endorsement of Santorum was at least the second defection from Perry's South Carolina campaign this week. Spartanburg businessman Barry Wynn switched his endorsement to Mitt Romney, after denouncing Perry's "destructive" attacks on Romney's business record at Bain Capital.

The criticisms on Newt are largely accurate. Gardasil is bunk. There was no “mandatory” requirement for it. And the reason he did it that way to begin with was merely to have insurance companies cover it. In other words, it was well intiontioned, and he backed off. It’s a completely empty attack.
Perry is 100 percent pro-life, even when it comes to rape and incest, which he has declared recently. His pro-life record in Texas is solid.
In other words, your standards are based on things that do not exist on this world.
If Santorum is the nominee, I will vote for him. He is a good man. Just dont tell me he is a fiscal conservative, he is not. The only fiscal conservatives in the race are Newt (maybe) and Paul (definitely). I would include Perry, but Perry is out of it.
The charge against Romney is that they purposely purchased businesses not to “save” them, but to squeeze them dry, pile them with more debt, and then sell their assets for a large profit in as little time as possible.
There is nothing illegal with that. But, it certainly isn’t a “pro-business” model of management.
“Gardasil is bunk. There was no mandatory requirement for it.”
You’re telling me that I’m wrong about the mandatory requirement for Gardasil that Perry was pimping? Yeah, there was a mandatory requirement until the Texas house stripped it out.
“In other words, it was well intiontioned, and he backed off.”
After the bill died... I don’t like the fact that he brought it up.
As for Perry supporting abortion in the case of rape and incest:

Heh. Prior to December 11th of 2011, yes he did support abortion in the case of rape and incest.
So he’s flip flopped on the issue.

Perry believes abortion should be illegal except in cases of rape, incest, or threat to the life of the mother (Fort Worth Star-Telegram, 6/26/02).

This is from ‘Americans for Rick Perry’.
If you include Newt as a fiscal conservative, then you have to include Santorum as a fiscal conservative.
Newt as Speaker produced zero balanced budgets in his term.
Newt in the house has seen exactly zero balanced budgets in his entire time that he has served the public in the House.
Paul, yes. Paul is significantly better than Newt and somewhat better than Santorum on fiscal issues. If that’s your one and only primary concern, then you should be voting for Paul, not Newt.
Rick Perry Gets A Grade on Abortion From Texas Pro-Life Groups The big question in the Republican presidential race is whether or not Texas Gov. Rick Perry will throw his name in the hat for the GOP nomination to face pro-abortion president Barack Obama. If he does, Texas pro-life groups give him high marks.
Governor Rick Perry has always championed the pro-life cause, tirelessly advocating for the sanctity of innocent human life in numerous ways, Texas Right to Life executive director Elizabeth Graham tells LifeNews.com.
Governor Perry has worked alongside Texas Right to Life, helping shepherd our pro-life bills and eagerly supporting our measures, Graham said. As governor of Texas, he has intervened to stop anti-life legislation on a number of occasions, and he has helped clear obstacles when necessary. .
Texas Gov. Rick Perry blasted pro-abortion President Barack Obama on pro-life issues "Perry said that, under Obama our federal tax dollars can now be used to fund abortion all over the world. With the stroke of a pen, abortion essentially became a U.S. foreign export......."
Perry has pleased pro-life advocates in Texas many times with signing pro-life legislation most recently signing an ultrasound bill allowing women to see them before an abortion and hopefully changing their minds on it. He has been strongly supported by pro-life groups. Perry supported or signed into law the Womens Right to Know Act and the Prenatal Protection Act in 2003, parental consent law in 2005, and funding for alternatives to abortions in 2007 and 2009."
Pro-Life, Marriage Groups Release 2012 GOP Scorecard
Only three candidates Perry, Santorum, and Bachmann support every issue on the scorecard and have signed both pledges. The other candidates have either not signed one of the pledges or have not indicated support of one of the social conservative issues.
Paul is my candidate, with figured crossed I could support Newt, all the rest I will vote for should they be the nominee. I rather vote for Santorum than Romney.
Perry’s position is absolutely no abortion under any circumstance, including rape and incest. He has stated that in the past this was not always so, but after thinking long and hard on the subject, he stated there was no way anymore that he could justify it.
Unless you can point to something in his record, Perry’s pro-life credentials are solid, and you are hanging on to straws to justify your candidate who, on social issues, is no different than Perry or Newt.
That leaves policy positions. Considering no one ever sells Santorum based on what he stands for on the economic side, besides the generic stuff every candidate is already for, I suspect he has nothing except the social issues to stand on. When that comes under analysis, it becomes a stale talking point.
“Santorum is a far better choice. At least he can get votes.”
I think you like him for endorsing snarlin’ Arlin Spector.
And I think you are a moron.
You have absolutely no evidence to prove your assertion; I have your above quote to prove mine.

->Did you believe he could win Iowa? I sure didnt. Im convinced that Santorum can win, and that hes our best chance.
I credit Rush a lot for that instant bump. Nothing more now.
People hate to be on the losing team—so they jump ship, and may jump again if it is politically self serving for them to do so. It’s just good business.
It's a lucky thing this horse is dead. No amount of painkillers could save it from the agony of this eternal carping.
All Texas taxpayers are treated (more or less) equally, and as a Texan, I'm fine with that. You, on the other hand, can pound sand.
Once I have caught you in one lie, I have to wonder how any others you are telling.
I know I’m sick already of hearing people claim Newt and Perry were “attacking capitolism.” They are not attacking capitolism, just Romney’s brand of capitolism.
If you actually want to know a lot more about Romney and Bain Capitol, plus a lot more about Romney personally, read the article in Vanity Fair on the newsstands this week.
One thing is for sure, Perry is the only really likeable candidate in the race, icing on the foundation of his record on jobs and values. I’m no fair weather supporter.
Uh, even his own supporters were saying this.
What’s not to get? I cited my source.
Is that source lying?
Then I would guess Rick Perry would be your “RealMan.”
