Millions of small e-cats (e-kittens?) are planned for manufacture according to Rossi and the price is now going to be about $50/kw, also according to Rossi, but so far no model has been presented to the public. At least none that I can find other than some artists conceptual drawing.

Now the latest announcement by Rossi is that the problem of refueling every six months or so by a technician has been solved or will be solved.

What is the E-Cat?

E-Cat is short for the term “energy catalyzer” and is a device in which hydrogen gas, powdered nickel metal, and an undisclosed proprietary catalyst are combined to produce a large amount of heat through a little understood low energy nuclear reaction (LENR) process inside a specially designed chamber. The inner workings of the reactor are covered by a trade secret which Rossi consistently refuses to discuss.

In this process, when an external heat source is applied (Electric or fossil) it is claimed that the nucleus of a hydrogen atom, a proton, penetrates a nickel nucleus and in doing so a nickel atom becomes a copper atom, and releases gamma rays creating a large amount of thermal energy. From reports of tests, it appears that the reaction begins when the reactor is heated to around 60 degrees Celsius, and once the reaction is stable, the external heat can be turned off and the reaction can continue for a considerable length of time. In an October 6th test in Bologna, Italy, the E-Cat ran without external heat (referred to as ‘self-sustain mode) for almost four hours, maintaining a constant temperature and boiling water continuously.

How long the E-Cat can run in self sustain mode without external heat being applied is unknown, but Andrea Rossi has said that for safe and stable operations it is necessary that the external heat source be cycled on and off.

The energy produced by the nuclear reactions is used to heat water, and the output of the E-Cat is hot water or steam. Lead and Boron are used as a shield to prevent the release of gamma rays during the reactions, and when the reactions are complete (The hydrogen input is turned off) there is no radioactive waste.

The significance of the E-Cat as an energy source is that it can produce energy at a much cheaper rate and much more cleanly than other sources on the market. The major ingredients, nickel and hydrogen are common elements and readily available at low cost and are consumed in very small quantities. There is no release of CO2 or other greenhouse gases from the E-Cat. Unlike traditional nuclear fission power, no radioactive materials are involved, and no radioactive waste is produced.

I’m been following this ecat from the start. Insane. 1 day you think this is absolutely a scam. The next you think there’s no way in ehll it’s not true. Back and forth, on and on.
I’m tired of it. But I keep on checking it out.

The Cold Fusion Ping List

http://ecatnews.com/?p=1144

Unfortunately, if Rossi did the following:

1) hired a bunch of actors to pretend to be the customer reps,

2) created an elaborate year-long special-effects-derived series of demos,

3) bribed, hypnotised or otherwise fooled Focardi, Levi, Kullander, Essen, Bianchini, Stremmenos

4) arranged for Piantelli, Miley and a host of others to try to fool the world into thinking that cold fusion was real,

5) got NASA, SPAWAR, The Defense Threat Reduction Agency and The Defense Intelligence Agency to say nice things about the field,

6) got Bushnell to make a fool of himself,

7) and convinced his former partners to set up another company called Ampenergo to pretend that they had a contract for The Americas for a substantial sum
-—— or that they just did this with no proof because they have worked with Rossi and trust him because he’s such a fine fellow,

8) sold his profitable company to his ex-partners in order to spend that wealth on a multi-million dollar scam;
-—— certain that once he got all the above ducks in a row he would pretend to sell the first device
-—— and then reel in the true target of his dastardly plan

9) and convinced a bunch of Greek crooks to set up a dummy company called Defkalion
-—— to pretend to fight with him over the non-existent eCat,
-—— to perpetuate the illusion and spin it off into a competing mirror-scam

[the second (this time genuine) buyer of a 1MW plant that will net him $2 million dollars
-—— until they want their money back or sucker a $100 million dollar deal under the table
-—— because he has experience in pulling the wool over all these idiotic eyes
-—— and knows that they will just take his word for it
-—— and not want to test if his 1MW plant can heat a small village without truckloads of coal or oil or a big fat electric cable coming into the container from beneath the floor (no you can’t lift the carpet!) ]

10) and that, in order to pull this off, Rossi had to risk discovery by interviewing all the people he subsequently fooled so that he could only invite the gullible Professors and not the brilliant anonymous posters on the Internet who surely would have found him out

then, yes, all bets are off and I’m with the guys who think that Rossi is an idiot and they are all geniuses.

Now the latest announcement by Rossi is that the problem of refueling every six months or so by a technician has been solved or will be solved
The most interesting part of this is that Rossi claims he "enriches" the Nickel "fuel" used in the E-Cat so that it has more of specific isotopes. He claims to be able to do this without any significant equipment, and for pennies a gram (otherwise he couldn't be offering a six-month "refill" for only $10 - $20). LINK

This process of isotope enrichment is the same process necessary to produce nuclear bombs. It is a major industrial process, which can strain the capabilities of entire nations. For example, Iran is currently working on this for their nuclear program. LINK

This process, if Rossi can really do it, is far more valuable than the E-Cat itself, and yet Rossi treats it as no big deal.

There is also the fact that the isotope analysis of the "fuel" and "ash" supposedly from a working E-Cat shows no sign of the isotope "enrichment" that Rossi describes, nor does it show any signs of any transmutation isotopes (only the isotopes found in natural Nickel, Iron and Copper).

Note that Kullander said that a detailed analysis of the Rossi E-Cat "fuel" and "ash" would be released by Christmas. LINK

We're still waiting.

We will know one way or the other in a very short time.

If the E-Cat is really what it claims to be, this will be a substantial positive change in a modern life. One implication will be to substantially neutralize a significant leftist issue of hydrocarbon consumption. I can’t wait to see how they will respond. Will they turn on the E-Cat and decry it as a “risky” technology that must be banned until proven safe?

Here's the words straight from LENR's superstar:
The big science, after trying to ridiculize us, now has understood that the E-Cat works, so now they are trying to copy and make patents to overcome us, discourage us and trying with this sophysticated way to stop us under a disguise of an indirect vindication. Is a smart move, but they are underevaluating us. I will never stop, within one year we will start the delivery of million pieces at 50 $/kW, with a totally new concept, at that point the game will be over. This technology must be popular, must cost a very low price, must be a real revoluton, not a bunch of theoretical (wrong) chatters.

Refueled every six months?
He’s never showed they can work for more than a few hours at a time.
