Following a hearing in Richmond today, U.S. district judge John Gibney ruled against Rick Perry's challenge to the Virginia ballot rules.
In his opinion, Gibney says Perry, and the other candidates who joined the challenge, waited too long to bring the suit.
"They knew the rules in Virginia many months ago; the limitations on circulators affected them as soon as they began to circulate petitions," he writes. "They plaintiffs could have challenged the Virginia law at that time. Instead, they waited until after the time to gather petitions had ended and they had lost the political battle to be on the ballot; then, on the eve of the printing of absentee ballots, they decided to challenge Virginia's laws. In essence, they played the game, lost, and then complained that the rules were unfair."
The decision means Perry, as well as Newt Gingrich, Rick Santorum and Jon Huntsman, will not appear on the ballot in the state's March 6 primary.

I’ve read on one of the, i believe , Perry threads that there WAS a Supreme Court case that ruled you do *not* have to live in the state you are gathering signatures in.
I cannot remember the case name.
So hopefully appeals will rule it uncostitutional as did the SCOTUS.
Maybe Altura, Shield or CW would remember the court case name ????
you never got the memo did you
We have to start the process with the small north east open primary state because there is a load of liberals, they allow liberals, libertarians and anyone to vote to pick our guy.
We need to start the process in SC but of course those elitist north east establishment beltway folks would know that if we started in SC then their guy would not get picked and they would upset all the cross dressing, homosexual RINO’s and cocktail pals
“And to you, who are so ignorant you claim the Texas press gives Perry a pass when they have fought and despised him for years, I dont even know what to say”
I stand by my post.
If Perry makes Texas proud, I will eat every word.
Only Paul and Mitt will be on the ballot in VA.
There is NO conservative choice in VA. The elites are quite happy with that.
I pray Paul gets the votes so that the vile Mitt, Rove and the rest of the RINO pukes suffer a loss.
Above all, Mitt must be politically destroyed.
If you like the establishment Republicans now you'll love them ata brokered convention.
there is another problem right there
Why do we allow non republicans to vote run on our ticket?
Why allow non republicans like liberals, Dems libertarians etc to vote for our guy.?
I am so pissed off with this whole process and I am sick of the elitist establishment ramming their guy onto us withe help of FOX.
Close primaries,
kick off non republicans,
have the states vote near the same time , say with in a month period and stop starting in the lib state in the north east
SCREW Virginia they should not be allowed to be one of our States! So much for “ we the people” if a person lives in Virginia!
Sorry, I don’t remember. If anyone would it would be shield or CW. Maybe they’ll respond tomorrow.
Running an effective campaign will be critical in ending Obama’s rule. Money will also be critical. GOTV doesn’t happen by accident. What were these guys thinking four years ago?
Meyer v Grant (1988) and Buckley v American Constitutional Law Foundation (1999)
Well; that’s pretty much all folks. The establishment gets their man. Unless of course everyone that would have supported Gingrich, Perry, Santorum and whomever else votes for Ron Paul.....just to send the establishment a lesson.
I want Santorum or Gingrich but if it comes down to Paul or Romney, let it be Romney.
No way the establishment GOP pukes want Paul. This primary, I am all about pissing those blue-bloods right the hell off.

What we want does not seem to matter. Per this ruling we will have Romney.
lets get a US constitutional amendment to have all state, US Presidential candidate selection votes (primaries/caucus/magic 8 ball, whatever), to occur on the same day.
That would be a disaster. Romney would win for sure. Only the rich could run for President if this were to occur. I know you are frustrated but this is not the answer.
I actually mis-typed....read the next post down.....in Virgina, vote Paul.
:(
If I were in VA I’d vote Romney. I don’t want to be part of Paul receiving one more ounce of power.
No loss for Santorum.
