I don’t care what Rush, Hannity, et al, say. RomneyCare is Romney’s crowning glory. His greatest accomplishment. And he still brags about it today.

Somebody please. I need some help here. Need someone to explain to me again how RomneyCare is free-market capitalism.

And while we’re at it, Romney thinks TARP and the bailouts were necessary. Again, please explain to me in plain English how TARP and government bailouts are free-market capitalism? He also thinks the take over of GM was a good idea? How is government taking over a corporation a good idea? And he thinks Obama’s trillion dollar stimulus was a good idea and says we may need another? This is free-market capitalism?

Big spending is now conservative? Bailouts are conservative? Abortion is now conservative? Gay rights is conservative? Gun control is conservative? Activist judges are conservative?

Good interview. I like it when he stays in foucs and shows these differences. I hope the conservatives will unite around him so this nightmare of giving this thing to Romney can be stopped.

Conservatives had better realize that Newt is the only one who can stop Romney.

Santorum is going to.

Jim, you hit the nail on the head. I think the answer is that all examples you raise are not “conservative” at all — as you point out rhetorically. They are establishment, elite republican positions- they are socialism for the rich. What I find amazing- as I’m sure you do- is that all those people we believed were our conservative spokes people- are now revealing their true colors— they are establishment. No one, not one, is standing by Newt and his claims against liberal Romney.

It seems these commentators have been playing us. They want Romney- the quintessential country club elite Republican. And worst still, they are trying to intimidate conservatives into silence by accusing us of being left wing radicals because we are resisting Republican socialism and this plutocracy. It’s bizarre- and it’s an awakening.

After all your years of service to the conservative cause, I imagine you must feel as if you’ve entered the Twilight Zone when our own “conservative” leaders end up telling us that Romney is a conservative. It’s a damn shame.

I have just a one word question aimed at Romney.

Tithing.

Will Romney give 10% of America to the Mormon Church like a loyal member should?

obama funds Islam, Romney will fund the Church of the LDS.

I agree. I’m thinking that some of these GOP elites don’t want to get rid of obamacare but instead want to manage it.

I read “A Choice Not An Echo” in 1964. The Pubbies been playin’ this game a long time. Reagan is the only conservative ever to be elected.

GHWB called Reaganomics Voo Doo. Pubbies want to make sure there are no more Reagan type candidates. They all try to talk the talk, but if you just check the record, they don’t walk the walk.

The political class is taking us to hell in a handbasket. Pubbies just move a little slower.

Jim,

I just don’t know what to do. When the primary hits Georgia, I will vote for Santorum. However, I am not sure he is going to win.

If Romney wins, do we vote for him to defeat Obama? What will you do?

thanks,

Atl.

Short version: We live in an “anybody but Romney” world, and rightfully so.

Voting for Romney will NOT defeat Obama.

GO NEWT GO........

I’m not going to vote for the abortionist/statist Romney that’s for sure. Not that it matters. I vote in California. If there’s a bona fide tea party candidate for president, I’ll vote for him/her then straight Republican down the ticket. If no acceptable tea party candidate, I’ll vote write-in for president.

Jim-
What all of these you ask about are, are part of the plan for the New World Order. We have had this progession to obama ever since Bush I dismantled Reaganism. It fits that agenda.
But what none of this does with Romney repping it, is defeat a confirmed Marxist, who, if given another term will destroy the Republic. Romneycare is obamacare. And most assuredly Romney will do nothing to stop this “cost shift”, because frankly that is what Bain Consulting and Capital has been telling corporate America to support. And that includes Big Pharma. And none of it is free market capitalism.

There is no nice way to take apart a Marxist, not one Bush could do it, and not a Romney for certain. They are not well armed enough. The strong candidate must have the ability to de-construct obamanism. And one must never forget the Secretary of State project w/ Soros’ help- electoral fraud is very real potential.

TEA party must not be culled, or rendered impotent by a media that has lumped it with libertarians. It is far more than that. While we’re at it, let’s examine the Republican platform that was adopted when McCain was nominated. Try to match ANY of that to what is being said today.

About which see BAIN consulting. That is who supported obamacare all along and counseled corporate america to do so as well. Privatize your profits, and make the public taxpayer absorb your expenses.

Corporations would take a different view on this, were the law requiring they provide this “benefit” (ERISA) be repealed. The intent is for the richest socialists to still be able to have private healthcare, while regular working people will have to take what the govt. allots and no more.

Private insurance destroyed.

Rush has criticized Romney pretty good but comes nowhere near agreeing with Thomas Sowell, who said plainly not too long ago that Gingrich is clearly the better choice than Romney. But Rush has pummeled Newt (my sweetheart says Rush started sounding "shrill" today) for "attacking capitalism."

Rush, Hannity, et al need to watch "Bridge on the River Kwai" and recognize themselves in Alec Guinness's Col. Nicholson, proving the righteousness of British discipline by building the enemy "a proper bridge."

Ticket scalping to re-sell at inflated prices and buying-up dot.com screen names in order to extort money from users who have real commercial use for them requires investment and risks, and are certainly part and parcel of free-market capitalism.

Such "businessmen" are free to make that kind of living, but they are jerks who make money solely by leeching off of the accomplishments of, and driving up prices for, others. They choose to make their livings by being counterproductive pains in the ass, all within the system of capitalism, and they deserve to be jeered and shamed, the way Newt is jeering and shaming Romney.

Rush is so wrapped up in insisting that capitalism is "righteous" in and of itself, that he's failing to see what his "proper take" threatens to accomplish.

When people like Rachel Maddow lead off with a story about how Rush is attacking Gingrich for attacking capitalism, you know you are in serious trouble. For some reason Rush (and a host of others) is unable to differentiate an attack on a so-called "capitalist" from that of capitalism as an idea. So either Rush has suddenly become completely irrational, or he has his own anti-Newt agenda at work. And I say that as a very long time Rush listener.

The two worst candidates are Paul (for very obvious reasons) and Romney. But at least when Paul talks, I believe what he says....and shudder...
