About 9 years ago, enemy fighters in Iraq captured then-19-year-old former Private First Class Jessica Lynch in a deadly ambush on the truck that she was driving. Eleven soldiers died in the attack, including one of Lynchs closest friends.
Later, Special Forces rescued Lynch from an Iraqi hospital and initial government reports portrayed her as a hero who went down fighting, claims which Lynch denied, saying that she didnt shoot a single round in the attack.
Today, Lynch joined Shepard Smith to talk about being in captivity, how she got the strength to call out the government on the false story presented about her, and whether, in the end, the Iraq War was worth it.
Of the attack, Lynch said she woke up about three hours after the ambush and knew immediately that something was wrong. She said, I woke up and all I could see was Iraqis standing all around me, looking down upon me. I knew at that moment something terrible had happened and I wasnt in the right place.

Here is another.
Lynch kept firing until she ran out of ammo
Pfc. Jessica Lynch, rescued Tuesday from an Iraqi hospital, fought fiercely and shot several enemy soldiers after Iraqi forces ambushed the Army’s 507th Ordnance Maintenance Company, firing her weapon until she ran out of ammunition, U.S. officials said yesterday.
Lynch, a 19-year-old supply clerk, continued firing at the Iraqis even after she sustained multiple gunshot wounds and watched several other soldiers in her unit die around her in fighting 11 days ago, one official said. The ambush took place after a 507th convoy, supporting the advancing 3rd Infantry Division, took a wrong turn in the southern city of Nasiriyah.
“She was fighting to the death,” the official said. “She did not want to be taken alive.”
Your up past your bedtime nOOb. Turn out the lights in mommie’s basement and go sleep.
It’s not important to me. Let’s just go through all the troops and rank courage why don’t we? She was there. I wasn’t. I wouldn’t want to be. Kudos to her for telling the truth too.
She most certainly was NOT "just a child." She was, and is, an extremely brave young woman who, at the very least, deserves her womanhood acknowledged as EXISTING.
Frickin' macho jerk. This is a COMBAT SOLDIER you're talking about!
Slow down... This is not a “combat soldier” that we are talking about. We’re talking about a soldier that found herself in combat. Nobody (except apollo5600) is taking anything away from her, but don’t try to make her something that she is not.
” - - - It was the press that initially built up the story out of some very foggy facts. It made for great TV and they really, really wanted that story.”
It used to be called “Yellow Journalism.” Today it is called “ Main Stream Media.”
I remember like it was yesterday. There were some real bigmouths on those threads.
The Navy adds maternity wards to aircraft carriers, covers up for their affirmative-action women fighter pilots who crash billion dollar jets, and now even puts women in freaking submarines! Add to all this the sodomization of the military with the repeal of DADT and we are literally witnessing the military lead the decline of America as it swirls right down the liberal Democrat toilet.
Kathyrn Bigelow will do a fine job of portraying the zero as a national hero.
Cowardice in the face of the enemy is not supposed to be rewarded, she was given the Bronze Star, wealth and celebrity.
I have been searching for information about the heroic soldiers and their actions and can’t find it yet, other than that Donald Ralph Walters was upgraded from a Bronze Star to a Silver Star after public pressure. I don’t know which guy took out the Mortar team and saved their lives.
She says she wasn’t brave, she says that all she did was panic, weep and scream in the floor board.
You cannot just lie and make up a fake story, there were other soldiers there with her who were actual war heroes and who saved many lives, do you know anything about them?
That word (combat)
.
I recall that very well.
She was captured and raped. Isn’t that enough for you?
Don’t play that with me, you should be ashamed of such a classless, tacky attempt.
This is a military discussion.
Don’t talk down to me. You want to jump up and down because a 19 year old panicked, got captured and raped and then shout, “See! She was a coward!”, you go right ahead. You seem almost happy about it. Leave the woman alone for God’s sakes.
