About 9 years ago, enemy fighters in Iraq captured then-19-year-old former Private First Class Jessica Lynch in a deadly ambush on the truck that she was driving. Eleven soldiers died in the attack, including one of Lynch’s closest friends.
Later, Special Forces rescued Lynch from an Iraqi hospital and initial government reports portrayed her as a hero who went down fighting, claims which Lynch denied, saying that she didn’t shoot a single round in the attack.
Today, Lynch joined Shepard Smith to talk about being in captivity, how she got the strength to call out the government on the false story presented about her, and whether, in the end, the Iraq War was worth it.
Of the attack, Lynch said she woke up about three hours after the ambush and knew immediately that something was wrong. She said, “I woke up and all I could see was Iraqis standing all around me, looking down upon me. I knew at that moment something terrible had happened and I wasn’t in the right place.”

Why all of a sudden does she speak up?
I saw that s*** with Sheperd Smith either today or yesterday. It was an anti-American hit piece. Smith was transparent in his “sympathy”, giving her leading questions to get the type of responses he wanted. She joined right in, and I am quite positive I heard a Ron Paul talking point in her initial remarks. She stated she looked forward to seeing the soldiers returned “from all over the world”. IOW, for the mass military base closures Paul supports (and so does the communist party USA). The way she denied her own heroism reaked of hatred for her own country and a lack of understanding of the world around her. It was a disgrace typical of Smith.
You help perpetuate the image of America as a lying, manipulative machine that “wrecks” the lives of people, including this little girl. This is a disgrace, and so is that girl for giving herself over to aid enemy and leftist (but I repeat myself) propaganda.

What else would one expect? Koranimals start with small livestock, then (assuming they have money) progress to boy butts.

Funny how the Post claims they want to crack down on anonymous sourcing (and have for most of the last decade), but they keep using such sources... again and again and again and again....

I had a friend in training at Ft Benning just after this happened. He told me one day his drill sergeant asked “Is Jessica Lynch a hero” to the formation. After a few people said yes, the sergeant silenced them and said “No, the Special Forces that rescued her are.”
For the Sergeant, it was a teaching moment. But the other take away is that at least the Army knew the truth of the battle and rescue at the time, August 2003. The rescue was in April 2003.
Did the government try to correct the story?
Never believe the government, especially in a time of war.
What the did to Tillman and his family makes me want to puke.
I believe CENTCOM made it clear that they didn’t have the whole story themselves so they urged caution.

I remember when the Pat Tillman story broke out. I was listening to Rush, and he was saying things like “we all knew a Pat Tillman” basically saying that now there is a face to the brave men who sacrifice and die valiantly. I dont think anyone, even Rush, would have thought that a false story like that would have come from Bush’s Presidency.
Never heard of Piestewa, but I partied on Squaw Peak many times 35 or so years ago with some HS buds.
Glad I don’t live in Phoenix anymore though. I like these Rocky Mtns.
What does matter is they tried to concoct a Bodicea cover myth which many of us found suspect then

It would have been more appropriate to rename the Gila River Casino to the Piestewa Casino.

We want to believe and so often we find out the real story.
We have great men and women fighting in the military.
We don't need a made in hollywood story for us to support our troops.
Tell us the truth, we can handle it.
Said it a thousand times, NOT buying the OBL story.
