U.S. Marines Allegedly Urinate on Taliban Corpses (Looks like the media won't blame Hussein)

The U.S. Marine Corps is investigating a video that surfaced online today in which several Marines appear to urinate on the corpses of suspected Taliban fighters.

The video, which is less than a minute long, appears to show four men in uniform looking around before urinating on three dead bodies, at least one of the men chuckles as they do so.

"Have a great day, buddy," one of the men is heard saying, apparently to a dead body

It's such a pity... That these marines didn't need to take a dump instead.

It's always fascinating to see the public's reactions to incidents like this. What do they think combat is? We train our young men to fight in rotten places and then kill and maybe be killed and then they are all horrified when they pee on the guys who just tried to kill them.

The Maine Corps, like all modern politically correct institutions, we punish these Marines enthusiastically but those of us who have served in combat have seen a lot worse stuff than this.

When we ask some of our children to lose all their youth in warfare and maybe more, maybe we should just take away their video cameras and welcome them home.

I guess to enlist in the military and fight you need to first go to diplomacy school and get credentialed as a diplomat?

Unfortunately, there is little diplomatic subtlety involved in being a sniper, especially to the enemy.

We’ll see if the Marine Corps still takes care of its own. These guys are not diplomats, they kill the enemy. If these guys get anything but a stern talking to for public urination, it will be a tragic.

Amen. Putting a round or dozen through these guys' chests while they were alive gets a pass, but taking a tinkle on them when they're dead is horrifying?

They were dead. The Taliban decapitates live prisoners. If anyone thinks that you can fight a vicious war where the enemy blows himself up killing innocent men, women, and children and has no regard for the "rules of war" without some sort of retribution by the good guys, they are sadly mistaken.

We didn't play by the Marquis of Queensberry rules when we fought the Japanese or the Germans for that matter. Pissing on some dead bodies doesn't bother me in the least. I have seen worse when it comes to desecrating corpses.

Both of you have hit the nail on the head with your posts. It takes a certain mindset (dehumanization, as pepperdog said) to kill. I would imagine it cannot be turned on & off at will.

I do not condone this, but I understand it. That there is a video (if authentic) is what bothers me. Not a smart move.
