Ron Paul to all the other non-Romneys: Drop out (He wants it to be a two-man race)
Hotair ^ | 01/11/2012 | Tina Korbe

After Ron Paul finished a distant second in the New Hampshire primaries last night, his campaign released a statement that calls for all the other candidates except Mitt Romney to drop out of the race. From the campaign:

The race is becoming more clearly a two-man race between establishment candidate Mitt Romney and Ron Paul, the candidate of authentic change. That means there is only one true conservative choice. …

We urge Ron Paul’s opponents who have been unsuccessfully trying to be the conservative alternative to Mitt Romney to unite by getting out of the race and uniting behind Paul’s candidacy.

Ron Paul has the boldest plan to cut spending, a dedication to protecting life, and a lifelong dedication to the Constitution and limited government. He also has the necessary support to campaign nationwide against Mitt Romney.

The statement also points out that Ron Paul has been shown in national polls as able to beat Obama — unlike any of the other non-Mitts. Like nearly everything Paul says, the statement is bold. Were it not Ron Paul making it — were it, say, Rick Santorum — it would probably be a more welcome sentiment to concerned conservatives. Those pesky foreign policy positions …

Still, for all that Mitt Romney has so far received little credit from the media for his doubleheader of victories and for all that Republican strategists routinely dismiss Ron Paul as a viable alternative to Romney, the two both proved a remarkable ability to attract support from Republicans of all ideological stripes. According to the exit polls, 42 percent of Republicans who consider themselves conservative on most policy matters voted for Romney and an additional 19 percent of Republicans who consider themselves conservative voted for Paul. In other words, they numbered one and two among conservative Republicans no less than among moderate-to-liberal Republicans.

Nevertheless, New Hampshire is a unique animal, known for the moderate tendencies of its residents. We’ll have a much better picture of the preferences of the entire GOP base after South Carolina.

I can’t believe that at one time I actually wanted DeMint to run. What a fool.

“One of the things that’s hurt the so-called conservative alternative [candidates] is saying negative things about Ron Paul,” said Senator DeMint on conservative Laura Ingraham’s radio show. “I’d like to see a Republican Party that embraces a lot of the libertarian ideas.”

I agree. I am very active with our local Republican Party, in an area of over half a million people, and we do have a number of Ron Paul leaning voters (small number). Some are the standard oddballs, but many are fiscal conservatives who are worried about the soon-to-be bankruptcy of our country. The yearly debt is over $1 trillion. It’s shocking.

It’s a shame that the Republican Party no longer has a consistently fiscal conservative as a viable candidate. Perry could have been that person, but his poll numbers are out of contention. Newt is generally close to being a fiscal conservative. I can forgive the Pelosi love fest if I need to do so. One way for Newt to add a good 5 or 10 percent to his vote total is to emulate some of Ron Paul’s positions (balanced federal budget, serious cuts in federal spending and agencies, repeal of federal health care laws). By moving to the fiscal right, I think many of the Ron Paul leaning voters, many who are doing so solely due to states rights, limited federal government, balanced budget, etc, will pick Newt. Newt does not have to attack Ron Paul, just incorporate those few Ron Paul points that are a good idea; and Newt has the track record from 1994 to prove he is sincere.

Another key, in my opinion, to Newt’s performance in the South - mention Romney’s gun control bill he signed. That’s another 10 percent, at least.

All you pathetic fake Christians and fake conservatives are the exact reason why Obama is GUARANTEED TO WIN. You sick filthy Trojans have no clue what conservatism is. You will get your pathetic fake Romney the secret underwear man to front your lost corrupted party and you will loose in the most pathetic way in all of modern history to Obama in the end.

Cain was the only one who could have easily beat Obama, you fakes executed him, and all the while executing Paul the only other possible one who could beat Obama.

You are all fakes and it is YOUR FAULT the republican party is no longer a traditional Christian or Conservative group of people anymore, you are just pathetic slaves to the media and your statist, globalist, police state paranoia.

You even think you are going to stop Muslim Jihad, something that has been going on for over 1000 years which your stupid ignorant selves have no clue about how to deal with either.

Congratulations for helping the Marxist globalists take over your entire country and media forever guaranteeing Christian culture and conservative freedoms and liberties are degraded and corrupted in the USA until Jesus returns.

You get exactly what you all deserve for what you have done to your nation and party.

Obama vs Ron Paul equals a LANDSLIDE FOR OBAMA!
The National Media pretty much ignores Paul during these primaries because he hurts the GOP more then anything. If he was the candidate they would be running with every nutbag thing he has said and done in the past 50 years!

Say what you want about Ron Paul, but he’s backed up by the numbers. He’s the only one to this point that has any kind of real significant support. He’s had two solid showings - which is a lot better than the other candidates can say. He’s also got money. If Ron Paul’s views on foreign policy were more realistic, he is someone whom I could get behind. I think Rand Paul could end up being a solid presidential candidate at some point to be honest.

The juvenile attitude of Wrong Paul and his campaign suits his juvenile voters.

Oh the irony! To call Dr.Paul supporters juvenile while you mock the man's name, which is one of the lowest and most childish forms of an attempt at humor. Ron Paul has been a consistent voice for Liberty in the US Congress. While he is not my first choice in the primary he is certainly a great man and a true American Original. The man is a Veteran, a conservative, and a faithful Christian husband and father. We can disagree but let us do so in a mature and honest fashion.

"I can’t believe that at one time I actually wanted DeMint to run. What a fool."

So we can now add Jim DeMint to the pile of past conservative "Heroes"

The current list is:
Ann Coulter
Jim DeMint
Hannity
Glen Beck
Nikki Haley

Gotta be missing someone! When this is over there will be no bad blood, because no matter how tough the talk, in the voting booth, the FR will pull the Mitt lever. NO MATTER WHAT is posted in the near future.

Ron Paul is crazy as a Loon.

After the Primary’s where Democrats cannot switch over and vote for him , his campaign is dead in the water.

Oy. Paulnuts.

"Harlan Pepper: I used to be able to name every nut that there was. And it used to drive my mother crazy, because she used to say, "Harlan Pepper, if you don't stop naming nuts," and the joke was that we lived in Pine Nut, and I think that's what put it in my mind at that point. So she would hear me in the other room, and she'd just start yelling. I'd say, "Peanut. Hazelnut. Cashew nut. Macadamia nut." That was the one that would send her into going crazy. She'd say, "Would you stop naming nuts!" And Hubert used to be able to make the sound, he couldn't talk, but he'd go "rrrawr rrawr" and that sounded like Macadamia nut. Pine nut, which is a nut, but it's also the name of a town. Pistachio nut. Red pistachio nut. Natural, all natural white pistachio nut. "

Paul IS NOT a conservative.
In his 30+ years history in government he has accomplished zip zero nada but muck.
I will be mature about Paul, he is not who you think he is.
He is a racist, anti-Semite, isolationist, ignorant of the Constitution/Founding Fathers and he is insane or delusional or both.

I heard a Paulbot calling in to the Glenn Beck Show today. He said that Ron Paul was the only candidate who was going to do something about ZOG. I thought for a minute it might have been David Duke himself.

Ron's quite the hoot. He's pulling 4th in SC, FL, and nationally. He's not even going to compete in FL because it's so far out of reach, and yet, he asks the guys ahead of him to quit. This must be like the cowboy trick where if you kick up enough dust you can make people believe you have an army. Just go up to the top of the hill, though, and you'll see three guys dragging branches. He must be starting to believe his own BS. Usually the first sign of an impending fall.

Ron Paul is one strange dude. All he can possibly do is ensure Romney gets the nomination and therefore Obama a second term. For all his small government preaching, I don’t think he’s in it for our benefit. Well, duh.

As far as small government preaching, Paul really means it. So did Bachman. The rest of the remaining field has a mixed record on shrinking the government.

I don't think anybody else has demonstrated understanding of how dire the debt and deficit is, and how close we are to the point when the only option is bankruptcy and default by the US government.

I think this is what is behind some of the disillusionment of some of the Tea Party enthusiasm. That the only candidates carrying the torch are either out (Bachman, Cain), have other “issues” (Paul's foreign policy, Perry's incoherence), or lack clear small-government credentials (Romney, Santorum, Gingrich).

Just another example of how little you know about the people you judge. "Someday you are going to have to look into a deep dark truthful mirror..."
