This just further brings into question Gingrich’s judgement.
How impaired is it and will we see many more of these excuses/apologies?
In the first actual contest of the election season Gingrich lost sight of the real issue — beating Obama. Instead, he devolved into revenge for perceived wrongs. Sadly, that shows up one of Gingrich’s major weaknesses — a thin skin. We can be assured that, if Gingrich did get the nomination, the MSM/Dems would attack even worse than Gingrich got in Iowa. They would have him bawling.

Come now. Newt received 45% of the negative adds in Iowa and 90% in New Hampshire. Newt was just returning the fire. GO NEWT!
Good...electing an attack dog who would go after the dems for revenge or otherwise once in office sounds like a good plan to me.
