On Fox & Friends this morning, Newt Gingrich fought back against Rush Limbaugh's criticism of his rhetoric on Bain Capital.
FOX HOST STEVE DOOCY: I was driving around yesterday in my car, and I was listening to Rush Limbaugh, and he was talking about you and how you're going after Mitt Romney and Bain Capital.
And he said that you're using the language of the Left to beat up on Romney over Bain.
He said it makes him uncomfortable because that's what the Left will do if Romney is the nominee.
GINGRICH: Well, I don't think I'm using the language of the Left. I'm using the language of classic American populism.
Main Street has always been suspicious of Wall Street, small businesses have always worried about big businesses.... and I think people have a natural concern when they see financiers come in from out of town, take over a company, take all the profits, and then leave people who are unemployed behind.

We cannot demonize those who put their capital and hard work at risk and make a profit.
retire Rush?
I believe the reason Romney is in this race is to unleash the ultimate crony capitalism on our country like we have never seen before. I think, if he got the chance, he would loot our treasury for every cent he and his greedy, filthy rich (with the emphasis on “filthy”) partners in predation could get, bankrupting our country in the process while they pocket the profits for themselves. After all, that’s the one thing Romney learned how to do in his business career. His record of looting companies in the private sector gave Romney the experience to do just one thing well in the federal government and that is to loot the treasury. He will drive up our debt, funnel the money to his Wall Street cronies, bail out after 4 years and escape to some permanent offshore getaway.
If you thought John Edwards was hiding something sinister beneath his smiling, sunny exterior, Romney gives off the same signals 100 times more intensely. There is absolutely no rational reason for him to be as much of a pathological liar as he is unless he is trying desperately to hide a Machiavellian agenda of gargantuan proportions beneath the layers and layers of facades that form his political makeup. It’s the ultimate double blind game. You make yourself look like you have a flimsily fabricated false facade for a seemingly obvious, benign reason, in this case the political expediency of a flip-flopper. But what it really accomplishes is to cause people to write off your unmistakable inauthenticity as mostly harmless, when in reality you’re using your entire multilayered persona as a cover for deeper, darker plans that most people could never imagine.
Mitt Romney is a bizarre and creepy character who lacks even the most faintly detectable ethical pulse. There is a thinly veiled rage lurking beneath his surface that occasionally exhibits itself in what look like very awkward behavioral moments, as if he is contorting his body in a struggle to suppress deep, feral and bloodthirsty instincts.
I believe Romney could do even more damage to this country than Barack Obama. Someone who thinks he means well but does everything wrong is still not as dangerous as a malicious character out to coldbloodedly destroy your livelihood, dismantle your dreams and take you and your family for everything you’re worth.
Newt Gingrich is an absolute patriot and American hero for trying to take this frightening, sinister character out ANY WAY THAT HE CAN, and for possibly being willing to fall on his own sword in the process of saving his country. I think Newt instinctively understands the threat Romney poses to our nation after suffering the brutal, amoral and heartless attacks from Romney and his cronies firsthand. If Newt can succeed in wiping Romney off the face of the political landscape for good then he will have done our country his greatest and most admirable service to date.
Paul turned on Reagan and left the party to run for the doper party, and he has endorsed Cynthia McKinney.
I happened to hear a caller to the Limbaugh show today nail Rush right where it was deserved. Limbaugh is sneakily working to establish Romney as the last man standing. If old folks are afraid Republicans want to take away their SS payments, Rush comes across as scared to oppose Romney for fear of being financially ruined by powers way above Limbaugh’s arrogant head.
Nope. I run my own business as well. ALL this is about is mitt romney and his greed, HIS ethics, HIS morals, HIS lying, HIS looting, HIS sanctimoniousness. There is another article on FR that 96% of all the negative ads run by romney’s pac were against Newt Gingrich and many, if not most were lies.
You are reading way to much into Romney. He is not sinister, but he is establishment country club republican who feels entitled to his turn. Its more about selfish power than money to these guys. They cant accept the notion that WE THE PEOPLE want our voices heard and our nations interests to come before any party.
Excellent post, the fight against Romney needs to go all the way to election day.
July 2008 Bain, together with Thomas H. Lee Partners, acquired Clear Channel Communications
Gee.
mamelukesabre, you have made a mistake and are attacking the wrong guy. You should be posting these comments to “david1313,” who is advocating profit-sharing.
I agree. Newt’s probably at the top of my list of compromises right now anyway.
How about you?
If he is criticising “Free Trade” then Newt will win the argument.
Free Trade is not patriotic , American, or conservative.
Free Trade is a guaranteed win for our enemies.
You are wrong. romney IS sinister. His big money backing coms from exactly the same place obama’s does. He, more than anyone in this race, has practiced the politics of utter personal destruction, and it started with Sarah Palin.
ron paul is running a very close second.
How about that Romney lied saying Bain created 100,000 jobs and he had to back track because Bain can't prove it?
The man is a dishonest liar.
Well, since I care about the outcome more so than the motive, I wont argue with you. I just dont believe evil in this world has to come from anything more conspiratorial than simple selfishness. Romney is the epitomy of someone who believes its all about Romney, coming in only second to Obama in this metric.
Excellent post.
'bout the same. I'm thinking if we can't beat this obanation, I'm ready to throw in the towel.
Crikey, this is ridiculous, we can't muster a candidate to beat this utter failure of POTUS....I'm beginning to have doubts.
I hear Mars is nice this time of year...lol!
