In a press release this afternoon, Club for Growth criticized Newt Gingrich for his attacks on Mitt Romneys career at Bain Capital, calling them unbecoming a Reagan Conservative. Club for Growths statement:
Yesterday, Gingrich said Those of us who believe in free markets and those of us who believe that in fact the whole goal of investment is entrepreneurship and job creation we find it pretty hard to justify rich people figuring out clever legal ways to loot a company, leaving behind 1,700 families without a job. Gingrichs attack was echoed that same day that by the Democratic National Committee, which also attacked Romney for his job creation record at Bain Capital.
Newt Gingrichs attacks on Mitt Romneys record at Bain Capital are disgusting, said Club for Growth President Chris Chocola. There are a number of issues for Mitt Romneys Republican opponents to attack him for, but attacking him for making investments in companies to create a profit for his investors is just wrong. Because of the efforts of Bain Capital, major companies like Staples, Dominos Pizza, and the Sports Authority now employ thousands of people and have created billions in wealth in the private economy. Attacking Governor Romney for participating in free-market capitalism is just beyond the pale for any purported Reagan Conservative. Newt Gingrich should stop his attacks on free markets and apologize to Governor Romney for them.
Hostile takeovers and fire sales are to "economizing" what mormonism is to Christianity.
I guess daddy's millions weren't enough, he had to go start a "business" that operated on stealth and legalistic minutia to STEAL worker's contracted pensions !
Romney is a filthy lying swindler in addition to being a filthy lying rino cult member !
She’ll ignore, just like always. That’s the plan, ignore, ignore, get Mitt elected then have FR shut down and have us all charged with hate crimes for exposing the great mormon coverup.
bttt
well, bye.
Several dozen.
Are you one of the "some"? Do you or not support Romney? Spit it out. "Some", what an ambiguous way to put it.
Yep the scorched earth was fine when mittens had his guys do it.. proves he is a sissy and needs to man up
Criticizing Bain doesn’t have to be class warfare.
Bill Gross at PIMCO has made a distinction between the finance economy and the productive economy, as has Eric Janszen at iTulip.
Bain is part of the finance economy and as such relies on rising asset prices to earn wealth. Firms in the productive economy rely on increased production of goods or service to make money.
The finance economy, or FIRE sector, used to assist the productive economy. But in recent decades it came to dominate the American economy, sometimes at the expense of the productive economy which it would dismantle and ship overseas. Growth in the productive economy historically meant a higher standard of living for the American middle class. Growth in financial economy doesn’t necessarily do the same.
Mittens is unhappy?
Club for Growth will whine when Gringrich goes politically incorrect on their pals at CAIR, too.
The banksters rolled the US Treasury and took down the real estate market, economy and the middle class with phoney loans scams. They did it in cahoots with politicans. I am glad someone is mentioning it. I hope they all go to jail.
We don’t have free market capitalism. We have an oligarchy. The amoral ones who are in power are happy. They don’t believe in the rule of law nor the constitution, either. They are dishonorable. Mittens is one of ‘em.
“How is the message that capitalism is bad going to work against Obama? That is what Obama has been saying for 3 years? And now Newt’s got his back. “
Sorry, you have a good point. What I meant to say is that I would JUST LOVE to have a Republican candidate that treats Obama like the trash he is, and doesn’t hold back. Certainly attacking him from the left is not a winning strategy.
“Whats Newts strategy for the general, run to the Left of Obama.”
Copy...sorry, it came out wrong. See prior post.
It’s more than unusual, its outrageous that such a coward has the audacity to run for Commander in Chief.
“Thats the plan, ignore, ignore, get Mitt elected then have FR shut down and have us all charged with hate crimes for exposing the great mormon coverup.”
Don’t flatter yourself.
“His attack on Willard has drawn blood. And I hope it begins the end of him.”
I hope so, too, but polling that I saw today shows that Mitt’s numbers are rising.
I don’t trust polls, though, and will wait to see what happens in SC before I get verclempth.
“By the way, has anyone figured out who initiated the bimbo eruptions against Herman Cain?”
Not that I’ve seen, but there is too much evidence pointing to Obama’s team on that.
BTW, I’m surprised that CFG has issued this statement.
Completely surprised.
Romney is nothing but a white Obama with an R by his name.
Shell ignore, just like always.
HUH?
Evidence you have NOT seen?
Hold this thought!
