Good. This whole Bain thing is bullshit. Bain was one of the best venture capital companies in existence with Romney leading it. It’s record on investments was actually really, really good.

It’s idiotic to see the so-called conservatives like Gingrich using lefty tactics of attacking businesses that act like businesses.

I saw him and thought he was great. He didn’t not hit Romney for political reasons, you could tell he meant it. Hope he does well tomorrow.

Santorum is gunning for the VP slot. Is he laying off Romney in an attempt to ride Mitt’s coattails?

Good for Santorum!

I despise Mitt Romney so much that it pains me to say this-especially since Perry & Newt are my top two choices at this point-but I am thoroughly disgusted that they would jump on this anti-capitalism bandwagon. There are SO many legitimate things to hammer Romney over! Why do they choose to imitate Michael Moore?

I’ve read about Romney’s record at Bain and to me it doesn’t look like anything he needs to apologize for. Looks to me like Bain turned around some companies (around 10 deals out of a total of 77 that made big turnarounds) and there were some deals that went bad. Overall, the investors made nice returns, and some companies got rebuilt, creating jobs in those industries.

My gosh, if I of all people am feeling sympathy toward that socialist flip-flopper over this, I just have a feeling this is going to backfire on Newt & Perry and Romney’s gonna come out stronger-at least with GOP primary voters. Which means we’re totally screwed, cause we’ll have Mitt going into the general, where he’ll run as the Democrat-lite and proceed to get clobbered by the real Democrat in the race.

Good. Newt seems like he’s gunning for Biden’s spot on the ticket and Perry is just a fool.

I really can’t believe that in the Republican party people are bashing venture capital. This is NUTS!

Smart move by Santorum. Since Newt wants to play suicide bomber, let him. Perry is viewed as a joke outside of Texas. Buddy Roemer is now ahead of Perry in NH.

Romney is absolutely correct in claiming that he started a company that created jobs for people. Anyone who wants to claim that there was a net loss of jobs through the actions of Bain Capital has a burden of proof to present actual numbers that support that argument. Many private equity firms have SAVED companies from going out of business and have injected new capital that has allowed them to grow.

I will offer as proof Sensata Technologies (NASDAQ ST) This company was acquired by Bain in 2006, was taken public through an IPO in 2010, and has more than doubled in value since. Granted, this is long after Romney left Bain, but it’s an example that shows how private equity firms are a necessary element of economic growth and wealth creation. It is not incumbent on companies to “create jobs” but most of the time that occurs as a function of successful profitable growth.

Good for Santorum. I am disappointed, and frankly disgusted, with some of the republican candidates right now.

They are whining and being nasty, just like the democrats do.

Santorum will end up endorsing Romney, just as Huckabee has done. They can’t help it. It’s a disease.

If “conservative” candidates are going to attack Romney because his group terminated workers, we might as well fold our tents. The nature of free-market capitalism is that at times workers have to be let go for the benefit of the whole. It’s been done to me, and I fully understand the reaons. I didn’t like it at the time, but that’s the way of the world. A company that can’t let go of workers is a company that is either subsidized by the government or one that is soon to go out of business.
