NASHUA, N.H. (AP) — Republican front-runner Mitt Romney stumbled down the homestretch of the New Hampshire primary on Monday, declaring, "I like being able to fire people who provide services to me" as his rivals intensified already fierce criticism.

"Gov. Romney enjoys firing people. I enjoy creating jobs," said former Utah Gov. Jon Huntsman, who has staked his candidacy on a strong showing in Tuesday's primary and has shown signs of gaining ground in recent polls.

Romney is the odds-on favorite in New Hampshire, and Huntsman as well as other Republicans who are contesting the state have generally been content to vie for second place in hopes of emerging as his main rival in the South Carolina primary on Jan. 21.

John O Neill was accused of swift-boating Kerry for telling the truth about his record, as most of those ads told the truth about Newt's activities. Kerry didn't want voters to know his VNW record as Newt didn't want Iowas voters to know his post congress record. The term was accurate in that way.

If you didn't get my point, I am not defending Romney, I just expect more thought out responses from Gingrich. He is an intellectual so I expect him to not take the easy gotcha arguments against his opponents. Maybe I expect too much.

I agree with you that Romney's legions are the most dishonest Gingrich attackers, but it appears that they have been very effective in damaging Newt with their lies. Newt should be able to respond now that his war chest is being filled.

I consider Newt to the smartest guy in any room he enters. I have seen every one of our current field of Candidates speak in person numerous times. My opinion of Newt's grasp of the History of this Country and his ability to express the comparisons of what we face today to be one of his greatest talents.

BTW - I am not being “Righteous”, just expressing what I see and hear.

Well I did see one of the so called ‘Romney-boat’ ads that Newt was calling all lies was accusing Newt of making a global warming commercial with Pelosi.

He's right, but he's a hypocrite since he took that ability away from the people of Massachusetts to do that to their doctors and insurance companies.

It's very good to be able to fire your doctor, plumber, electrician, supermarket etc. It would great if parents were able to fire their children's teachers.
