Medved stated that THE ARTIST was the best film of the year. I would like to rent MONEYBALL DVD...
I would like to see THE DEBT as well...
Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides
and Planet of the Apes are my favorites........
Gee, I haven’t seen ANY of those flicks,I don’t
WANT to see any of those flicks, I must be
killing Hollywood.
Hugo was my favorite.
How could he not have “The Undefeated” on the list?
The best movie of the year is courageous. I was mesmerized by it and it is a long movie but felt like 10 minutes. A conservative not having this movie on his list is worthless to me. I hated The Decendents....horribly boring. I liked Just Go with it. It was funny.
The Artist, no question!
They remade “Footloose”....Really?!?!?!!
It’s the first time in many years that I saw more of the best than the worst.
Amazing!
Moneyball is great. Going to see it a 2nd time at the budget cinema tomorrow for $2/ticket.
And you would trust Michael “McCainiac Romneybot” Medved’s opinion on anything why?
Gunner
The film academy will love Hugo & the Artist.
Didn’t see any of them.
I saw all those movies Rombot Medved mentioned and he’s full of it. They ALL stink or mostly disappoint. 2011 was the very worse year for movies that I can recall. 2012 has to be better. Please.
That said... the “Ape” movie in ‘11 brought back memories of Charlton Heston’s work, so that’s the ONLY one I’d recommend.
I should add that I’ve also seen Warhorse, The Debt, and Hugo this year. They were all good, but my 2 favorites were The Help (I’ve seen it twice) and The Mighty Macs which enjoyed a VERY short run at the local cinema.
The Mighty Macs is outstanding, but apparently couldn’t get a good distribution contract. It is G rated, a true story, and thoroughly delightful. The biggest surprise was how much the woman’s BBall team from a tiny Catholic college influenced the sports world. I would like to see it again, but it has disapppeared from the theaters around here.
Watch “Insideous”. Perhaps the scariest movie I’ve seen in years.
I agree with these lists. The Way is good, Descendants very good. Hugo good. Footloose sucked wet dog fur.
I just saw Warhorse last Friday.
For its imagery, it’s a beautifully done film; and the general plot and story-line do make a great tale.
One big problem I had was - to my mind - the actor for one of the key characters, the young man who raises the horse from birth, was chosen more for his appearance than his acting ability. By the story you wanted to totally empathize with him, but as an actor he was less than convincing - for me.
I had only one really great concern about the movie. I hope to G-d that some of what they put the horse through was no where near as dreadful in real life as they made it seem on screen. For that aspect alone, I want to give an Oscar to the horse.
I strongly disagree with him on Moneyball. I found it to be pointless, with almost nothing about the story to even consider making a movie about.
The best movies I have seen this year are Touchback with Kurt Russell, Win Win, and The Music Never Stopped. I enjoyed Courageous as well.
The new version of Girl With the Dragon Tattoo is the worst major move I’ve seen in some time.
