Two senior administration officials say the White House chief of staff, William Daley, is resigning. He's being replaced by Jacob Lew, the budget director.
The change will be effective at the end of this month. President Barack Obama planned to announce it later Monday.

It is hard when you have been the executive, like Daley was for so many years, to all of a sudden take orders. I’m guessing it is hard for Daley to be a follower?

I wouldn’t read too much into it at this point. In every administration, people come and go all the time. If there’s anything negative about this situation, it will be released to the press late on a Friday night.
Last October, Dailey said he was going to stay through the upcoming election. I wonder what changed his mind?

I agree. He being from Chicago and all, he probably got the charter to conjure up the dead votes for November. He needs to get an early start...

From bad to worse.
Not only is Daley not used to taking orders, but from what I gather his advice was never heeded, he was always in a very small minority position among the top WH staff. On the other hand, he could be going back to Chicago to prepare for a challenge to the election.
