According to the Quinnipiac Poll released Monday, Romney leads the field among Florida Republicans with 36 percent of the vote, followed by Newt Gingrich with 24 percent, then Rick Santorum at 16 percent. Behind them, Ron Paul has the support of 10 percent of Florida Republicans, Rick Perry has five and Jon Huntsman trails with two percent. The poll also found that 54 percent of Florida Republicans say they could change their minds in the coming weeks.

I agree, if we don't rally around Newt NOW, before SC & FL, it will too late. Voters are not likely to see that though. We can only hope the candidates will.

It’s funny when people say Perry should drop out because he’s splitting the vote. He’s getting 5%. Even if you assume NONE of his supporters would move to Romney, what other candidate is going to benefit from a 2% bump in the polls?

If the polls are to be believed, the voters have already removed Perry from the race. So long as he keeps spending money attacking Romney and Obama, he’s doing a good thing.

The real problem right now is the Gingrich/Santorum split. But again, it’s hard to see that the two candidates share a common constituency — if only 20% of their supporters have Romney as a 2nd choice, it wouldn’t help if either of them dropped out either.

What is necessary now is to tear down Romney, not “coalesce the opposition”. If it takes 3 guys to do that, then go at it.

Bush 41 endorsed Romney and I wouldnt be surprised if Jeb endorses Romney in Fla. So much for Perry getting the big wig establishment family from his home state behind him and Newt too...they are Romney rinos. Looks bad for Perry and Newt

NEvertheless, you can’t expect a man to bow out when he thinks he has a good shot at winning. Anyone with an ego big enough to try for that job is going to be incapable of doing that—and I wouldn’t want him to. I’d have to wonder about the desire of anyone that would do that.

Look, if we have to put Romen-noodles in the wh to unseat this mess, so be it. What we MUST do is capsize the Senate and House with tea party congresspeople who will go in there like Jesus with a whip knotted out of cords. Ones who will not go along with a liberal forked tongue RINO president. Actually, if we get a fire-breathing conservative congress, Romen-noodles will have to stay on board.

But I sure would like to see a man like Rick in there. Newt would be ok too.

Hope they enjoy voting for their pro-abortion, pro-gay, corporate-raiding, socialist. But they can count me out.

The Bush’s are disappointing in so many ways. Don’t lose hope. This thing is not over.

Rick Santorum is the last hope for the republic.

Dark times ahead with the re-election of Obama and the ultimate destruction of the GOP.

Actually, they found another counting error and he did. The media seems not to want to run this story, however.

Could it be because he is a more trustworthy candidate? Even if he was a big government RINO like Newt, he beats him on many other levels, and Romney on many more than that.

Ok so heres the deal. We need a mutually agreed winning strategy. How about we all agree that we all vote for the leader of the Not-Romney canidates (Newt Rick or Perry). Whoever is leading in a particular state/primary...he gets the votes. Otherwise we are going to get Rinoed again!

“As much as it pains me to support a serial adulterer, I can at least say with confidence that Newt won’t make the mistake of doing it again.”

Your prediction is bolstered by the fact that he is 68.

NOT trying to get zotted and I respect FR positions on social issues, but this is flying on Twitter. A Huff Post article:

Rick Santorum: States Should Have Power To Ban Birth Control, Sodomy

The power to ban part is lost, and all ppl see is that Santorum wants to ban BC and be in everyones bedroom. This is why Santorum won't win the general. Most ppl think this is none of Government's business and the media will hammer Santorum on social issues.

Here’s what it boils down to. Either Santorum and Perry get out and support Newt Gingrich or Obama will win the election, especially with Hillary Clinton as his running mate. If this happens the democrats could be in power the next 12 years.

To avoid that nightmore, Newt Gingrich has got to be the one to take on Obama and open him up like a can of worms.

It absolutely can not be another liberal running against him and a liberal who practically wrote ObamaCare.

It’s Newt or four more years of Obama, and maybe 12 more years of democrat rule.

It’s that simple.

Yep. SoCons are ruining the chance to nominate an actual electable conservative, as usual.

They will never get it. I blame them for the 100+ year progressive slide this country is on.

It seems economic freedom and the economy in general is the last issue on their minds as long as they are able to dictate their morals on someone else's life.
