In her autobio, Shirley Temple told how H’wood bigwig George Jessel exposed himself to her...as a child. Nothing ever happened to him-—Jessel went on to become a respected entertainer.

From the little I know about George Jessel, this didn't sound like his M.O. to me, so I checked it out. In her autobiography Shirley Temple discusses this event during a part of the book that recounts events in the fall of 1948. At this time she was 20 years old.

She mentions Jessel having seen the rushes from a movie called Mr. Belvedere. Shirley Temple appeared in a movie called Mr. Belvedere Goes to College that came out in 1949.

Shirley Temple had been married at the age of 17. Although Jessel was 30 years older, Temple was not an innocent little child when this alleged event happened. He may be guilty of sexual harassment but it is wrong IMHO to accuse him of pedophilia.

Oh please----what we are allowed to know about these Hollywood types is just the tip of the iceberg. Jessel was a notorious womanizer and letch. He obviously had a thing for young girls. His third wife was 16 when he married her---Jessel was 42 at the time. It lasted three years. Shirley said Jessel tried to force himself on her in her dressing room. According to the young Shirley, she gave him a drop kick in the crotch, and he slithered out the door.
