Texas Christian Group Burns 22 Pairs of Air Jordan's in Christ's Name
Youtube ^ | 1-8-2012

A group of "Christ Warriors" in Texas just outside of Dallas torched over 22 pairs of Air Jordan's (a lot of them the very ones people were rioting over during Christmas) on Friday night.

The video is just making the rounds today on the net but they intend on making bigger statements shortly..that this was just the start.

They are saying shoes and items like these are basically what is wrong with society in general and that at the end of the day they aren't worth anything without Christ in your life and at the gates of Heaven. Arguments have been made that they should have donated to homeless people...fact is...the group goes into the ghettos and bad areas of Dallas and help hands on and that the shoes would actually get some of them killed.

Idiots.

Why didn’t they spend the $100 + and buy six-seven pairs of reasonably priced shoes and donate them to homeless shelters or children groups or some other charity.

Because doing something sensible and truly charitable like that wouldn’t get them a YouTube video. (rolls eyes)

Well, St Francis stripped himself naked in the town square of Assisi to make his point about possessions.

But I think something should be noted about both Buddah and St Francis: it was their own possessions they got rid of, not possessions in general on behalf of other people.

Physician, heal thyself. If they want to get rid of their own overpriced athletic shoes, fine; but burning a pile of shoes bought for that purpose is silly and makes them look like wack-job Muslims.

I think it depends whether they bought them in order to burn them, or bought them and then repented because of the violence and burned them. The second would make some sense.

I do not think that. They were making a statement of what people did to get these shoes. Who cares? Nothing is worth the fights, etc, people did. I simply do not understand that mentality. I also do not understand the fights of people during Christmas sales.

Do you know how much they give to charity or how they got the shoes in the first place? The people who rioted could have spent much less on shoes. They could have bought cheaper shoes and given money to a charity. : )

This is silly. The shoes and other material items are the problem. It is people’s greed for the items that is the problem and the greed is there because of how they have been brain washed in today’s society.

I have done some research on them...this was all about repenting...not just purchased.

The shoes aren’t the problem.

The people that covet them are.

A boy was murdered recently for his air jordan shoes. This is a good protest to bring attention to the problem of insane bee hive materialism.

Every year there seems to be a ritualistic, hyped up product shortage sale where people act like animals to get limited quanities. Every time I cringe at the sight of Americans acting like animals over things. Christians need to speak out against the decent of our society into the gutter and ridicule these people.

They also have the nerve to stage one of these “black friday” events every year and name it “Christmas” shopping and they name the animal shoppers Christians. People who act like this - who are visious and hurt one another for products like this are not Christians. They should be made ashamed of themselves if they dare call themselves Christians by other Christians.

Mocking this crap would be more effective (learn from Alinsky!) You know, like a KKK dragon pictured wearing Air Jordans.

Do you know why “Black Friday” was given that name? It’s because it’s historically when retail shops ‘go in the black,’ i.e., their books turned from red ink to black ink and they made their first profit of the year. It’s not a put down on Christmas shoppers or Christmas or Christians.

Exactly. THat people would in effect riot and kill over such a trivial item as a pair of designer shoes indicates absolute moral bankruptcy.

OTOH I wouldn’t lose one moment’s sleep if they were to burn all the Air Jordan’s. Almost like tearing down the high places or Asherah Poles. Destroy the idols.

It did not begin as a put down, but it is a put down on Christians now. An annual slap in the face as they call it Christmas shopping. It’s more like hog forging.
