America Needs a Man of Action
realclearpolitics.com ^ | January 8 2012 | Thomas Sowell

If Newt Gingrich were being nominated for sainthood, many of us would vote very differently from the way we would vote if he were being nominated for a political office. What the media call Gingrich's "baggage" concerns largely his personal life and the fact that he made a lot of money running a consulting firm after he left Congress. This kind of stuff makes lots of talking points that we will no doubt hear, again and again, over the next weeks and months.

We have a man of action in the Whites (when his wife says so).

The fundamental choice in the 2012 election as I see it is this:

Either we are going to be one nation under GOD
Or
We are going to be one nation under SATAN.

The choice is going to be ours to make come November. There is no neutrality in this, no matter what anyone tells you. Not to make a choice is to choose.

The total package is there. Last night should have proven that.

The debates last night and today only confirmed one thing, how thin skinned and touchy someone is. A few hundred million in obummer attack ads and boom. Game over.

Sowell gets it. SC will, too. Newt wins SC. Period.

If you believe that then he has A LOT of work to do. He should go to SC today and start working. Both Romney and Santorum have been to SC which is why they are on top. We need to knock Romney especially out of first place in SC.

Newt has made some mistakes, and I’m speaking of sitting down with Pelosi and Hillary and NY-23, not his multiple marriages, etc. mistakes. But, his roots are good going back to his early Congressional career so I’d vote/support him in a heartbeat. You know what you’re going to get with Obamney or Huntsman so I agree with Dr. Sowell, go for Newt.

I think so, too : )

Look, it comes down to these two debates in NH were HUGE because fourth place or lower in NH is not where ANY conservative can afford going into SC, the decider state.

If only the top three finishers in NH were allowed to go on to SC, we would have a guaranteed CONSERVATIVE victor in South Carolina who always seems to get it right about who our nominee will be.

But it does come down to the fact that ONE moderate has a distinct advantage when we run THREE conservatives against him. And anyone with a functioning brain clearly knows why.

I will vote for anyone still in the race, including Ron Paul, EXCEPT for Huntsman and Romney (and it has nothing to do with their religion.) If either of them are the GOP nominee I’m staying home or writing in Sarah Palin

And I don’t care if that means 4 more years of Obama.

And I am not alone. I’m hearing it from a lot of people.

ROMNEY = DOLE MCCAIN = LOSERS

The GOP blew it in 2008 when instead of protecting Palin and attacking Obama they piled on Palin in an effort to destroy her. I hope she bolts and runs third party. And, again, I don’t care if that gives us 4 more years of Obama. To be honest, I think she could beat both parties once she freed herself from the rules of their game.

I respect few people's opinions the way I respect and value what Thomas Sowell has to say, so his endorsement of Newt Gingrich carries a lot of weight.

Given the current field, Gingrich looks like the best candidate. I have plenty of doubt about the man, but if he's good enough for Thomas Sowell, then he's good enough for me and for America.

I also was impressed by Thomas Sowell’s argument. I think Newt could be the Churchill America needs. I know that Romney is not. Go Newt.

Agree with most, although I will vote for Romney if he is indeed the nominee. I still have hopes he is not although it looks unencouraging now. I cannot see running the risk of 4 more years of the Kenyan Marxist by not voting for the GOP nominee. At least Romney is an American, ostensibly, while there is nothing that suggests to me that Obama is a loyal American.
