In exchange for mobile presence in India, RIM, Nokia and Apple have allegedly provided backdoor access for the Indian intelligence to spy on communication.
On January 6th reports of Symantec (makers of Norton Anitvirus) being hacked surfaced. The group of hackers behind the attack were from India.

Wasn’t +256 bit encryption restricted in the US for communication services because the NSA would have to invest in computational power of several orders higher magnitude, to be able to crack the encryption?
