POssibly, but Newt’s age is far down the list that his baggage carriers have to haul around. That being said he’s still the best of the bunch.

Yep, I don’t think Ron Paul will run; if he does, say hello Pres. obama.

I’m getting the debate an hour later than the live thread, so I’ll post commentary here.

I swear Huntsman and Romney must have made a pact. When Huntsman says something stupid (and it’s not every time, but when he does ..), Romney capitalizes on it, and has some of his strongest points of the debates.

Gingrich thinks he can work with the other side if you have real leadership....explains how he did it when he was leader.

Romney does the same.

Ron Paul - Gregory reminds him he has sponsored over 600 bills (would this make Paul a frivolous bill sponsor?), but has only had one signed into law. He doesn’t answer the question.

Santorum - goes after Paul - people like him because of his economic plan, but he’s never accomplished anything. But Paul could accomplish his foreign policy plans starting on day one. Santorum does an excellent job taking Paul down on this one.

Newt’s wisdom and wit far outweigh any age issue or I would have commented long ago for fear of having another McCain or Dole nominee.

Gregory asks a question about what would you do to make your other Republicans upset?????
(these are some stupid lines of questioning - what would you do to tick off Republican voters?, what would you do to tick off Republican congress....what’s next .... what would you do to tick off your wife? what would you do to get your dog to bite you? what would you do to get thrown out of your neighborhood association?)

Huntsman suggest He would propose term limits for Congress.

Perry says the problem has been spending in Congress - he would propose term limits, part time congress, cut their pay, balanced budget amendment.

From an outsiders point of view I tend to agree with those comments. No doubt the left will drag the baggage up saying that he is most conservative candidate but cannot appeal to the conservatives with the personal baggage.

Can you imagine what a deadlocked convention would look like if Marco grabbed Sarah as his V.P., and took over the convention !! You heard it here first....or maybe second.

“...but the left keeps blowing that out of context.”

Seems to me it is more the panicked big-government-romney-supporting-establishment that keeps blowing that out of context, rather than the left.

What we are seeing is nothing more than unfounded fear by pretend-consrvatives who actually think Romney can defeat Obama in a head-to-head, but not with Paul as a third-party candidate. I agree with you that there is no possibilty Paul mounts a third-party campaign.

“Do you think that Newt’s age might go against him though with younger voters?”

You mean like it has with Ron Paul?

Gingrich thinks he can work with the other side if you have real leadership

There should be 2 big points to make here,

1. the health care bill is rotten, can you get Democrats to help repeal it and replace it with the stuff that make sense in the American Economy?

2. the tax code is rotten, can you get Democrats to help replace it with a single low rate for all?

The follow-up question for Ron Paul should have been, if the people should want to go to war, would you do it? My assessment is the Ron Paul excuses not to go to war would roll out like wild fire.

Thanks for the running commentary, as I’m not where I can see or hear this mornings’ (or last night’s) debate.

I was told by someone that saw last night that the anticipated clash between Gingrich and Romney didn’t happen - and it was surprisingly toned-down between the two. Is that correct?

Also, is it true Romney and Santorum seem to be taking it easy on each other?

Thanks, and vice versa, it’s nice to be in good company. I cut back on the local channels on the satellite TV bill, so I have to catch some shows later to see them for myself, but I would still miss some stuff if I didn’t have everyone here commenting.

I watched the debate on the internet ABC channel, intermission, 4 libs to 1 conservative(if they let him speak), you got to wonder why ABC doesn’t get more conservatives to comment on a Republican debate, but you know it’s just ABC doing the Democrat party’s research and trial balloon testing.

True,Matthew Dowd I believe on abc with stuffy stephy pointed out (surprisingly that he was allowed to get it out)that if the election is about zero they lose.

they have to make it about Mitt or whomever is our nominee.Key stuff there hope someone remembers it.

These shows frustrate me so much since none of our guys, Mrs. Serpenthead or George Will who won't, never ever give us huge list of Obama disasters which are so easy to do!! From obamcare to playing golf while seal team six got in the chopper to the arab spring/Lybia,etc etc. to a debt load going from 10.6 trillion to 16 trillion in three years!! Its so easy to expose this Marxist and so few take the time.
