The Fix is in—Its Mittens or no one. As soon as he gets the nod they will pound him with scandals, lies, what ever to make him unacceptable. 3rd Party will just help them with their goal—an Obama Century! Let them have their tin pot tyrant—in the end America will be driven to revolt and Civil War. The world will miss us. We can hang up the baton of world policeman and maybe that will not be so bad. Americans are too decent to play that game. We can toss a few monkey wrenches into the system before our rights are taken from us.

Smart lady. And maybe she reads Free Republic and agrees with our arguments after seeing Jim’s proof with her own eyes out of Romney’s own mouth. Either way, smart lady.

The Dems are absolutely salivating at the prospect of running against an aloof Wall Street multi-zillionaire (who will be said to have looted companies and outsourced American jobs overseas).

I have to call a bingo on that. Consider the strategy of the Obama camp, Zedia included. Obama can't run on his own record so he must run against his opponent's record. IMO, there is no other viable strategy.

So the narrative will be pushed by the Zedia much as you stated:
an aloof Wall Street multi-zillionaire (who will be said to have looted companies and outsourced American jobs overseas)... who wants socialized medicine, wants to raise taxes, wants gay marriage, wants government sponsored abortion on demand. So, why not get the real thing with Obama, without the aloof multi-zillionaire part?

As I posted earlier:

Romney is the MSM-selected republican candidate and they are working full-time to ensure he is the one on the ballot come November.

All candidates were ruthlessly attacked when they rose above Romney. They were attacked until they fell below him.

All.

Romney never suffered MSM attacks because the MSM wants to chose for us, and their choice is another McLame.

Mark my words, IF Romney is the nominee, then, and only then, will the MSM “investigate” him and they will attack him and his numbers will fall, fast.

The MSM will do exactly what they did with McLame. McLame was the MSM choice of the republican field and, oh how reasonable he was, a “maverick” willing to work both sides. . .then McLame got the republican nod and WHAM, the MSM turned on him like Cujo after tussling with a rabid raccoon.

The MSM will do this because they are what they are, rabid liberals and they will do what they have to spread the disease, and that disease is The Messiahs victory.

Mark my words, the MSM will leave Romney alone until we have no where else to go. Then, after the MSM goes “Cujo” on him, we will truly have no where else to go.

Why? Because when Cujo’s in the MSM attack they will infect the republican/conservative/independent voters.

Those infected voters will find themselves frothing at the mouth, angry at Romney and lamenting we have no one left that is willing to lead the republican/conservative cause.

Another victory for The Messiah. . .Cujo.

Sarah is of course correct. And how do we prevent the Romney nomination? I would suggest that it is within the power of Sarah and perhaps a few influential others (Sen. DeMint, Cain, Rush) to go all-in on an endorsement, before the South Carolina primary, for the one anti-Romney candidate who can beat Romney and 0 - Newt Gingrich.

Newt is a fighter and an inspiring leader who can rally the base to win in November. Neither Santorum or Perry comes close to Newt's combination of these essential qualities.

Methinks that the Zedia already has some hidden dirt on Romney along the lines of pictures of him in bed with a dead girl or live boy. That is in addition the storyline, oh, excuse me, the narrative. The Zedia loves to frame the narrative.

“If Romney can get the nomination his leftism could help neutralize the dem base. Just a thought, who knows.”

No, the left and moderates will not vote for Romney as the want the real Obama, not Obama Lite.

Republicans need to put up a real conservative. Santorum is the one running that has the least baggage the left can blast him on. Santorum is not a dynamic speaker, but may get better as the campaign progresses.

The Democratic base segments that are redistributionist / anti-business / private sector and pro-tax won’t support Romney (who is more conspicuously associated with business than any Republican to have run for President in decades).

The Democratic base segments that are focused on soft foreign policy / gay rights / abortion / censorship / etc. won’t dislike Romney as much as they might Gingrich or Santorum ... but they’ll like Obama so much more that it won’t matter.

However, the “competence not ideology” constituency could easily come back to Romney. These are educated people who work in the private sector and between the real incompetence of the Bush Administration and McCain and Palin’s lack of any appreciable / believable agenda to do any better, got suckered into Obama’s slick presentation and plentiful backing from Wall Street, law firms, c-suites, and other grandees of the private sector. Many of these people saw the light in 2010, and Romney is their kind of guy. These people are also bigger donors and opinion leaders than the average, and their support has disproportionate benefit.

The questions regarding this support are as follows: (1) how much of it could Gingrich or Santorum earn? and (2) does this residual support for Gingrich or Santorum, together with the higher turnout of social conservatives who won’t turn out of Romney, net out positive.

After reading the comments, I'm astounded that people still think that the GOP is conservative and on our side but just "stupid."

Wake up, Conservatives 4 Palin and everyone else! They're neither, and they're totally in bed with the fascists who are currently in charge. They're siphoning off the cash as our country declines from the bleeding caused by the minions of the globalists who want their new world order and will get it at any cost (to us). They can't do it if there is a single free nation state on earth, so we must be destroyed.

Romney is their designated loser this time, and we must not let him become the nominee, for he will go down to humiliating defeat, probably praising zer0 ala McCain.

Also, we must unite behind our conservative nominee, whoever it may be, to defeat the marxist globalists and take our country on the path to her former glory.

Keep focused...ANYONE BUT OBAMA.

I am sick of that insulting, cliche statement. It's nothing but pablum.

Nothing on this Earth will get me to EVER vote for Mitt.

(Most of my family and friends feel the same.) I loathe Mitt beyond what can be written.

With a clear conscience, I will vote down ticket and write in someone for President.

It was hilarious that all the obviously left-leaning commentators on the panel with Brazile after she said Romney was the weakest candidate IMMEDIATELY shouted, “NOOOO, you don’t believe that!” waving their hands and rolling their eyes in a mock display of condemnation. They didn’t seem to want the truth getting out about Mitt.

MSNBC really trashed Mitt after the debate this morning. I wish FOX went after him with that kind of verve. I think MSNBC just thinks they’re playing Operation Chaos to muddle our primary, but in this case their goals align with the true conservatives.

I will say Brazile isn’t a total hack, not just a commentator who never worked as anything but a talking head. She was in the role of Karl Rove for the Democrats in real campaigns, and has a good sense of the voters, how campaigns work and who is electable. I’d trust her to correctly evaluate a political race above a lot of the other liberal talking heads.

Exactly right, TOL. The GOP is not conservative at all! It’s membership fights the TEA Party and rock solid conservatives on every front -— in the US House, Senate, media, Beltway punditry and in states houses and on local school boards across the country.

The demonic-rats are Marxist, and the GOP are almost socialists, but the GOP can’t out spend or buy more voters than the demonic-rats no matter how many government programs they agree to support.

We have to nominate one of cour conservatives. I hope it’s Newt because I think he’s the best equipped to take down the Marxist, but I will support Santorum or Perry - whomever’s the ultimate Romney killer.

So the answer is to take Palin, Newt, Rick and Rick and even Cain and make ONE candidate out of the Conservative Collection. Have them agree to include them all in the Conservative Administration. Stop splitting the votes.

The best answer so this never happens again is for the Tea Party or others to start a movement to reform this broken voting system which does not work for multi-candidate elections.

There are different options to do it, but we need a way for voters to tell us which of all the candidates they like and which they don't, not just pick one name.

As it is now, they can 4 exact clones of Newt against 1 Romney and Romney can "win" with 21% of the vote if the other candidates split the vote equally. Obviously that is not a democrat result and it is not the will of the people. One way to fix it is to have a ballot where we can say which of ALL the candidates we like and which we don't. Then the 4 Newts would each have 80% support instead of 20%, and we would be able to see the people far preferred any one of those 4 to Romney.

Palin also said it was “unfortunate” that the Democrats would go after Romney. That got talked over and was a little hard to hear. So it wasn’t an out-and-out anti-endorsement. It was a major attack on the myth of Mittney’s “electability” though.

It was funny how the FOX host acted incredulous when Palin said that, and Palin just came back with a stone-cold sober “I can see what’s coming.” That was an uber-convincing turn of phrase on her part. No question she means what she says and has no doubts about it.

I’m quite sure Gingrich could get that “competence not ideology” vote. Everyone thinks he’s smart, even Bill Clinton and his mortal Democrat enemies always openly acknowledge he is smart. I think Santorum would suffer with that segment and play more like a G.W. Bush candidate.

We need to write off the Democrat base completely and not even focus on them. We NEED to get out the Republican base to counterbalance them and Romney can’t do it. The bottom line is that if independents think the country is doing well, they will not be inclined to vote out Obama. We’d be in a tough position if the economy starts roaring (even if it’s because the Supreme Court ends Obamacare), however Newt is the one guy who might even be able to succeed with that longshot play. He’s the only one that could convincingly sell the American people on our ideology and actually move the needle of ideology in the conservative direction without actual circumstances going on to back him up, just as he did with welfare reform. Clinton vetoed it twice, but Newt led the effort to convince the American people it was the right thing. He changed public opinion which then forced Clinton to go along with him. We need that strength of conviction in our candidate to win the election even if the economy turns around.
