In my eyes, Gingrich has shined, and some of Santorums responses have been very good. Gingrich shined. Santorum is missing something.

I was surprised Gingrich was timid on Romney. That’s the biggest surprise to me.

Santorum is missing something. Newt said Santorum was more like a junior partner, and I'm inclined to believe it. Santorum looked very uncomfortable and out of his depth at times. A few more years of seasoning (like say after 8 years of a Gingrich presidency ;) ) and he would be ready.

Santorum is too focused on the little things. It's hard to tell how much was Santorum and how much was the moderators, but Santorum seemed to want to fight Paul more than maybe he should have. If Santorum took every little spat he had with Paul and had instead used that time to attack Obama, I think it would have served him better.
I feel Santorum let the moderators lead him into fighting with the other Republicans. He needs to move away from that and focus his fight on Romney and Obama.
This was Bachmann's problem as well, she wanted to mix it up with the other candidates when she should have been mixing it up with Obamney.

Gingrich promised to eviscerate Romney. He was going to come down so hard on him that Gingrich said it might even cost him the election, but that was OK because he was going to take one for the team.
But something happened on the way to the debate.
