I live in Norway and as most of you know the handgun laws here are insane but I discovered that .177 cal. pellet guns are exempt from the avalanche of paperwork and most other rules.
With the increasing criminality in Oslo I was thinking of getting one to at least act as a deterent or precieved equalization of the situation. It is better than having nothing.
Prefer CO2 powered. Thanks in advance.
>>Dont carry rabies.
Really?? I didn’t know that. They get into my garage to eat the cat’s food and won’t leave. The cats are scared of them and won’t come back in when a possum is inside. I was concerned they might carry rabies and didn’t want them in there. This might change things a bit. Thanks.
Yes ours is very accurate too. We use it to cull the squirrel population in our yard and for quiet hunting if the SHTF. It would be the last thing I would pick up for self defense. Personally I would grab my Ruger P85 which is loaded with black talons. But this guy lives in Norway or somewhere so he’s apparently limited to air guns. Up close the bear spray would probably work or a taser if they are allowed to have one. But out past 20 ft the bear spray will not work. So I guess the air rifle would be better than nothing. I would hate to take a raptor pellot in the head or torso from my Gamo. That could potentially be lethal.
The reason,or so they think, is opossums body temp. Is too low to support the virus.
Last week we had 2 raccoons chowing down on the food we had put out.
A possum saunters up, fight? No, they all shared the vittles.
Kinda cute.
while I’m all for firearms, this may be an alternative if you find it impossible/impractical to obtain one. Don’t know what the laws in your country are about chemicals are, but check out http://protectionagainstcrime.com/omega_about.shtml and especially the demo video at http://protectionagainstcrime.com/omega_videos.shtml
I know! I’ve seen Ralphie run around Folsom Field at a number of football games (my son goes there).
Question: What’s Ralphie’s gender?
Have you ever asked yourself why .177 caliber pellet guns are exempt from "the avalanche of paperwork" that firearms are subject to?
It's because .177 caliber pellet guns are generally considered non-lethal weapons against humans.
Female bison are used because they are smaller and less aggressive, as well as for insurance reasons, although Ralphie has knocked over her handlers on more than one occasion. Ralphie IV and V share duties right now. V will take over when IV retires.
I hope your son stays strong in the 4 indocrination camp that is CU. CU had the opposite effect on me it clearly defined what I believed. It also helped that Reagan was elected the year I entered. Back then most profs were cool as long as you could defend your argument with intellectual rigor.
I have a Crossman air rifle that can be pumped. The power is a function of the number of pumps. It is very accurate to about 20 yards.
I bought it to dissuade cats from murdering birds and chipmunks on my property. The cats do learn after two or three low power stings.
I had a bad skunk problem. I live trapped them then dispatched with the pellet rifle at close range. A shot well placed between the eyes did the job. A BB actually seemed more effective than the lead pellet. A slight miss produced semi consciousness but not death.
A possum seemed immune. I finally quit killing them and just let them go.
I would not recommend the pellet rifle even a CO2 powered one for defense
