What I don't understand is, why does every job now require a college degree, at least an associates degree? Back in the day, if you wanted to work in a doctor's office (other than an RN), the doctor hired you and trained you to answer the phone and handle patients. Now you have to attend a community college, take prerequisites, then get on a waiting list, then take two years of classes just to be a medical assistant. It's a racket. (Community college tuition is not cheap anymore, either).

My daughter has been trying to enter that field. In fact, she landed a job as a medical assistant in a doctor's office without completing a medical assisting course and worked there for nearly a year before the practice was audited by the state and she was terminated because she didn't have her "credentials". She was doing a great job, in fact, the doc liked her so much during the time she was there, he gave her more responsibility and a raise. The patients loved her, and that's what he really cared about.

Bottom line is, she'd spend about $10,000 to land a $12.00/hr. job. How could she pay off a loan that size and support herself? She's currently waitressing, saving up the money.

"terminated because she didn't have her "credentials".

Big government at work with a big assist by big insurance. I'll bet this kinda stuff happened thousands of times a day all thru out the USA. These days government regulates just about every facet of our working and personal life. We are lucky will can still take a crap (in our government approved tolet) with out a permission slip.

The government workers in the colleges and the regulation enforcement offices need forced clients to pay for their retirements.
