Mocking Perry in this situation is simply absurd. Santorum literally had his name picked out of a hat and jumped from nothingness to the top of the ticket in Iowa within days, when just a week prior the whole state had been Newt’s territory. It’s all the more striking when you consider how much of an empty suit Santorum is. He’s about as inspiring as a rotted corpse in a bikini.

With Bachmann out, conservatives will hopefully give Perry another look. He’s the only candidate who doesn’t look and act like a plastic ken-doll. Hopefully Santorum implodes with his big government stuff fast enough for Perry to pick up the momentum. Being stuck with a Santorum or Romney ticket would be a sign from God that He is determined to let our country fall into decline.

Rick Perry Unwinds Before New Hampshire Debate At Texas Shooting Range Ready, aim fire. That’s apparently Texas Gov. Rick Perry’s idea of relaxation before returning to the campaign trail this weekend.

Ahead of Saturday night’s ABC News-Yahoo-WMUR debate in New Hampshire Perry took a few moments to himself at an Austin-area shooting range.

“Just relaxing a bit @ Red’s Range before we leave for New Hampshire!” @governorperry tweeted Friday along with a photo of himself wearing a green sweatshirt and a baseball cap with a firearm in hand........

...In a 2010 KTRK interview during his gubernatorial race, Perry called the shooting range “my golf.”

On Friday, Perry showed up at Red’s Indoor Range, which according to its website, “has been in the shooting range and retail firearms business for over 20 years, proudly serving central Texas with two high-quality indoor shooting facilities as well as two retail locations with extensive inventories of firearms, ammunition, and accessories.”...

Perfect. Excellent post!

I am baffled as to how Santorum went from one of the other guys who will lose to Conservative Superman in a matter of days.

He and Newt are both big government "conservatives" and Santorum would be trampled by Obama and his machine.

I agree that there is no point in mocking Gov. Perry at this point. I would point out though, that just about every non-Romney candidate has had their chance to shine, and so far, fate has not shined twice on any of them. Once the electorate moves on, it has been for good.

And now? The time is too late.

It’s Santorum or Romney. That’s the choices left to us.

Santorum isn’t my first choice. Or my second. That said, Romney is no choice, at all.

I think Mccain endorsing Romney is great for the RINO establishment but sends a clear message to the voters who were on the side lines and had not made a decision yet. Mccain Romney = Obama

Our country is already in decline and has been so for quite a few years. I see no reason why God would wish to prevent our demise. We, as a nation, have turned away from him.

Santorum has been looking good. What I'm concerned about is that when all guns are turned on him he will go under regardless of how competent a campaigner he is or how decent a guy he is.

I think Perry is largely inoculated and has the resources to fight back against the establishment.

“he’s the only candidate who doesn’t look and act like a plastic Ken doll”

He’s also the only candidate who looks and acts like George W. Bush, and 100 years would be too soon for that.

AND, BTW, my man Newt has many flaws but “plastic Ken doll” isn’t one of them.

As a Perry supporter, I'll concede that if he does poorly in South Carolina, it'll probably be time to throw in the towel.

At that point, it will be less about the candidate himself and more about what brand of "conservatism" the voters want. I'm beginning to feel that many so-called "conservatives" in this country are social conservatives who like their Big Government.

You say mocking Perry is absurd, which is true. But then you go on to mock and insult Santorum ad nauseum. Your deep analysis has really been a helpful contribution to the discussion. /sarc

If they want someone to fight for their Second Amendment rights they will. Obama & company are coming for the guns next. They saved that for the nothing-to-lose second term.
