KEENE, N.H. (AP) - Republican presidential candidate Rick Santorum called Friday for immediate cuts to Social Security benefits, risking the wrath of older voters and countless others who balk at changes to the entitlement program.
"We can't wait 10 years," even though "everybody wants to," Santorum told a crowd while campaigning in New Hampshire and looking to set himself apart from his Republican rivals four days before the New Hampshire primary.
Most of his opponents have advocated phasing in a reduction and say immediate cuts would be too big a shock to current and soon-to-be retirees.

BS. Call it what you want. My grandfather had money deducted from his paycheck for his retirement- as did millions of others. It’s THEIRS. They depend on it. It’s all our seniors have.

Hey. One of the few things Rick said that I agree with. If he keeps this up, I may come around to supporting him. Everyone shares the pain — including seniors.
Congratulations, great response...I scrolled down thru’ a slew of answers before I saw you say “entitlement my ass”. This was an annuity plan, not an entitlement. They say entitlement often enough and people tend to not pick up on the language. Lots of people who never paid in to social security receiving benefits are getting entitlements I suppose, the rest of us hard working clods (both my husband and myself) paid in for many, many years.
Agreed, but SS needs a touch up also.
To bad they don’t ask the voters what needs to be cut first.
I would recommend the EPA be first for being demolished completely.
