KEENE, N.H. (AP) - Republican presidential candidate Rick Santorum called Friday for immediate cuts to Social Security benefits, risking the wrath of older voters and countless others who balk at changes to the entitlement program.
"We can't wait 10 years," even though "everybody wants to," Santorum told a crowd while campaigning in New Hampshire and looking to set himself apart from his Republican rivals four days before the New Hampshire primary.
Most of his opponents have advocated phasing in a reduction and say immediate cuts would be too big a shock to current and soon-to-be retirees.

Social Security has always been self-supporting until those smarmy politicians on Crapitol Hell got their nasty, slimy, corrupt hands on it and raped it clean for other things that they considered more important! Pay it back, leave it alone and DON’T expect people to save for their old age themselves.....most WON’T. I despise forceful taking of one’s money but after a lifetime of paying into it I don’t think it’s asking too much for my Hub and I to collect whatever he’s paid into it all his working life!! Dammit, go after gooberment WASTE and FRAUD before even thinking about overhauling Social Security!!! I’m talking to Demonrats as well as Republicans......you sorry bunch of morons!!

Many modern conservatives think that you should be dishonest if not doing so means that you might lose an election. There are aspects of SS that need to be cut. All government programs need to be cut, because the moment we can’t borrow anymore money then we are going have a way bigger cut. That is a mathematical reality. Who is responsible for this. Well our leaders who already spent the Social security fund of course. Rick needs to point that out constantly. Congress stole the money.
I am not an expert on how much needs to be cut and to whom. But I do know that I see people on SSI all the time that are perfectly able to work. And I am talking people in their teens and Twenties who just don’t want to work. Many of them never having worked a day in their lives.
So you’d steal from old folks AND call them names and believe that you’re taking the high road? Think again. We are done.
What then do you say to someone like me who’s been voting for decades, and invariably for a losing candidate? They are not my politicians, they’re my neighbors politicians, just like your kids are not my kids.
We paid involuntarily into this SS system, we want back what’s owed to us, which money has nothing to do with past, current or future military, education, welfare spending, et cetera, despite of what you might have been told by the gummint and the MSM to believe (and apparently do believe.) It’s like MF Global’s customer money that’s mysteriously missing, but at least, according to some regulations and rules, was supposed to be separated from the firm’s money, and we hope is separated in your own brokerage and mutual fund firms money buckets. Your kids have no claims on it.

I am in my 40s. I did not vote SSI in. I was forced to pay. Do I expect to see SS? No. But you tell my 70 year old mother who depends on SS that her benefits are going to be cut, she is NOT GOING TO VOTE FOR YOU.
