>> What a difference a caucus makes. Rick Santorum who two months ago had one percent (1%) support among likely South Carolina Republican Primary voters now is running a close second there with 24% of the vote. <<

But...but... the Newt Gingrich fans kept INSISTING Santorum had absolutely "no following" outside of Iowa and his surge during the Iowa caucus was a "fluke" that wouldn't make a difference in any of the other 49 states. He needed to "drop out" and get behind "front runner" Newt Gingrich (who is polling BEHIND him not only in South Carolina, but New Hampshire as well)

Question: How many more primaries does Newt have to trail Santorum in before he's no longer the "front runner"?

Newt also trails Santorum in *national* polls—Santorum is second and Newt fourth in the recent Rasmussen poll. Newt fans may argue if they wish that Newt has a higher ceiling than Santorum, or that he’d have a better chance of beating Mitt one-on-one than does Santorum, or that Newt would have a better chance of beating Obama than Santorum—with none of which I agree—but they can no longer claim that Newt is polling better than Santorum either nationally or in the next primary contests.
