An Alabama schoolteacher was jailed on charges of sexually abusing a fourth-grade female student, and police said Thursday the man told them he molested more than 20 other girls over his 25-year career.
Alabaster police said Daniel Montague Acker Jr., 49, was charged with three counts of sexual abuse, and additional charges were possible.
"This is not a one-time event," said Deputy Chief Curtis Rigney. "This happened over a period of 25 years."
Acker taught fourth grade at three schools and drove buses in the Shelby County school system from 1985 until he retired in 2009. He was investigated on similar allegations in 1992, but grand jurors did not return an indictment, said Rigney.
A girl who is now 12 or 13 came forward within the last week claiming Acker molested her around 2009, when he was a teacher at Thompson Intermediate School, Rigney said. He wouldn't say what drove the girl to go to police.

Another evil freak. According to article he was investigated in 1992. School kept him employed because GJ found him not guilty.
At least his previous accuser has been vindicated now.

My point?
To me, it is just as sick and perverted when a female teacher preys upon and molests underage students who are male. Yet many here joke about it and give implicit high-fives that a young boy made it with an older woman.
It is no less a demented crime.
NO teacher and no adult who is entrusted to guide and instruct our children should be excused for this type of attack. When we tacitly approve a male student having relations with a female teacher, we are enabling this violation of trust between adults and children.
You are right.
We've long known that pedophiles are attracted to jobs where they have authority and influence over vulnerable kids. The Catholic Church and other organizations like the Scouts have had their feet held to the fire over this issue.
Maybe it's time we started looking into a little more critically into the motivations of people who want to teach. Tenure should not protect sexual predators.
There is a HUGE difference between a 20-something female teacher having sex with a 17 year old boy than anyone having sex with a 4th grader who would be about 9 or 10. I was once a 17 year old boy and had a couple of teachers that I would have loved to have sex with. They were forbidden fruit in that they had no interest in me, but had I been able to close the deal I would have in no way been harmed.
The way I look at it, many boys are interested, and if given the opportunity would jump at the chance. Some girls are as well, but that is less common. Sex between older teenagers and adults can be consensual and while wrong, doesn't rise to the level of crime that happened in this article.
If you can't see that there are different levels of wrong then to be consistent you must think that all forms of date rape are the same as the guy jumping out of the bushes, and all forms of torture are the same whether it's waterboarding or cutting of fingers with pruning shears.
Bottom line is what while generally correct, you are absolutely wrong that this is no less demented. Having sex with a 10 year old is not the same as having sex with a 17 year old under any circumstances.

Once again....this guy was “protected” no matter how anyone looks at it the school system is not vetting their teachers. The guy was already suspect before so why did they hire him?
I don’t care if or not there are those falsely accused.....even a false accusation generally means someone was out of line enough to warrent a trial. As if their aren’t enough teachers without a trail record to choose from. They didn’t need to hire the perp in the first place.
You are right...anyone who has a kid in public schools needs to get them out...and or at the very least do their own investigation of the teachers over their children....most won’t.
You appear to have totally missed GPM’s point.
The point is the abuse of authority by the teacher, willingness on the part of the *victim* or not.
And the abhorrent double standard that is applied in this case and the case you mentioned.
In this case, every one is (rightly) about to string the guy up.
In the case of a female teacher, especially one who is *hot*, and an older boy, it’s wink, wink, nudge, nudge, lucky boy, all based on the teacher’s looks, instead of the fact that wrong is wrong and any teacher who abused their authority in such a manner is worse than dirt, no matter how good looking the teacher and how willing the boy.
ANYONE having sex with a 10 year old is totally and completely different than a 20-something hot female teacher having sex with a 17 year old boy.
In the case of a 10 year old, the teacher is absolutely abusing their authority. In the case of the 17 year old boy that may or may not be the case. If the teacher (or any other adult) coerced the 17 yo then it would definately be abusing their authority. If one of my hot teachers would have picked up on my hints back when I was 17 there would have been no abuse of authority whatsoever. It may have still been wrong and/or illegal, but it would not have beeen anything near the violation that sex with a 10 year old would be.
The reason it matters to most people who comment on the naughty teacher threads is that if the 17 year old boy is sleeping with a fat old ugly hag, that in itself is embarassing. Doing so the day after he graduates from high school changes nothing. The particular hot teacher I'm thinking of never had any "authority" over me than any other adult in my life. By your logic, no cop or judge should ever be allowed to have sex since they could be percieved as having authority over someone.
I agreed it could be wrong, but I refuse to agree that it's the same as having sex with a 10 year old.
