Newt is Newt. He has looked like this forever. Its not like there was slender Newt we can all remember. I don’t think it will make any difference.

Should the debates also include a swimsuit competition?
Elections are beauty pageants?
Now I've seen everything.

“Should debates also include a swimsuit competition?”
That kind of caused me to wince, lol.
But seriously, there are so many voters that choose their candidate based on appearance it is scary to me.
Maybe we need to resort to radio debates, where only the voice and ideas are heard?

Ill tell you right now, I would never vote for a fatso because they have no discipline whatsoever.
If you had to choose between Romney and Newt, which would it be?

On the other hand look at Obama. He looked TERRIBLE in that video hook-up to his supporters on Tuesday night. He looked thin and his jacket looked like it was purchased in the boys department. He looks like he doesn’t eat and I would bet money that he is still smoking like a chimney.

I think 68yo Newt’s pudgy body type is one thing, Christie’s incredible obesity is altogether something else. Barbour and Huckabee’s fatness was somewhere in the middle.
Newt’s challenges have more to do with policy and personality than pudge.

Have we already forgotten that Bill Clinton was overweight during most of his presidency? Before Clinton, you would have to go back to Herbert Hoover to find an overweight President. In the late 19th and early 20th Centuries, being overweight was regarded as a sign of prosperity, that the heavy man did not have to do menial work. Most of the Presidents between Lincoln and Wilson were at least somewhat overweight. Old time Communist and liberal propaganda portrayed bankers and industrialists as “fat cats” and the workers and farmers as undernourished. That position has obviously reversed.
