Caucus Vote Counter Says Romney Mistakenly Given 20 Votes
(Video report at link)
DES MOINES, Iowa -- Caucus night was chaotic in many places, with hundreds of voters, candidates showing up and the throngs of media who followed. The world's eyes were on Iowa. But in the quiet town of Moulton, Appanoose County, a caucus of 50 people may just blow up the results.
Edward True, 28, of Moulton, said he helped count the votes and jotted the results down on a piece of paper to post to his Facebook page. He said when he checked to make sure the Republican Party of Iowa got the count right, he said he was shocked to find they hadn't.
"When Mitt Romney won Iowa by eight votes and I've got a 20-vote discrepancy here, that right there says Rick Santorum won Iowa," True said. "Not Mitt Romney."

Fortunately it’s a very decentralized system which makes fraud more difficult overall. Where it could come into play is the razor close ones of course because one precinct could change the winner.
About the only way you could do it is if one person controlled the count, with no observers, and called the bogus numbers into the state themselves, so no one could notice the discrepancy. Then they’d have to watch the race and hope their guy was in the top 2, then wait till they were the last precinct to report.
That assumes your guy is even in contention for #1 and the race is close. Not to mention if the rest of your county has reported and you haven’t, and you aren’t the largest precinct - that would raise red flags. You could roll the dice and slip extra ballots in when voting you’re still running into the longshot odds or a person at state would change the tallies and no one would catch it, but again luck would be required.
More likely is mistakes.
According to her the Story county error was corrected quickly because they badgered her till she did.
Exactly. It’s a statistical dead heat, no matter how you look at it.

Thank you for the link!
The Republican “Alleged Leadership” are going to pull off another Exceptional Lemming Cliff Dive” Like they did with Bush 41 in 92, Deadman Dole in 96, and Petrified Deadbeat McPAIN in 2008! The RATS will shred Romney in 2012 because the Guy is one of them! Its one thing to trust a Good Catholic Christian, its another story to trust a Morman! To them, the Church is supreme and we Christians are Infidels to be treated the same as ISLAM dictates in the KORAN that we are to be treated! That IS NOT GODD for Us or Our Wonderful Judeo-Christian America!!!
I guarantee you they will find “another error” to cancel this one out and keep Romney as the winner.
It's like when the gold medalist is later disqualified and the silver medalist gets the gold.
All the pomp and circumstance has already happened, the headlines went to Romney. If Santorum ends up the winner in the end, he won't get the headlines back.

Caucuses have NOTHING to do with selection of delegates to the National Convention... that happens at the state convention. Delegates selected to the national convention are in no way selected, or committed in any way, shape, or form based on the caucus results.
‘_______if you cannot count and tally votes
accurately..... ________’
Anyone catch the conservative radio talk show host (can’t remember who it was . . ) as he was talking to a woman in Iowa Thurs.?
A woman who I think had something to do with the counting, somewhere.
She sounded so pathetically amatuerish - and the radio host could be heard groaning here and there as he listened to her.
She didn’t have an attitude - just sounded like she shouldn’t have been a spokesperson, and in essence, by answering the radio host’s questions, was ‘tattling’ on all the silly things that went wrong, or agreeing things could have been better.
Hopefully, she did not represent the whole of Iowa!
Actually. The top 3 would keep the 7 delegates. So no one “won”
I’m guessing Santorum would gain a delegate & Willard would lose one.
First you have the nominations for each political party. Then you have the national election. The state "primaries" are where the delegates are chosen for the party nomination, right? Each nominee then runs in the national election as I understand it.
What's the purpose of a "caucus?"
>>>What’s the purpose of a “caucus?”
Party “regulars” meet, select delegates to the county convention, and ‘vote’ in a presidential reference poll...
No delegates were awarded by the Iowa caucus presidential preference straw vote.
No delegates have actually been assigned. They won’t until they hold a State convention in June in which case, the various precincts will vote. They aren’t obligated to vote for the candidate their voters selected either.
