NEW YORK, New York, January 5, 2012 (LifeSiteNews.com) – With the highest abortion rate in the nation, nearly double the 23% national average, New York continues to be a place that babies in the womb cannot love.
New York City Department of Health released data that shows that 83,750 abortions were performed in New York City in 2010, which translated to 40% of all pregnancies, down from 41% in 2009.
The Bronx saw a staggering 48% of pregnancies end in abortion. The city lost 38,574 African-Americans babies to abortion, a dumbfounding 60% of the city’s African-American pregnancies.
“In parts of the city more than half of all pregnancies end in abortion - this is very, very disturbing,” said Greg Pfundstein, Executive Director of the Chiaroscuro Foundation, a pro-life organization that says it was instrumental in the city’s decision to itemize the abortion and pregnancy statistics and release them in a more timely manner.
“We are glad that fewer abortions were performed in 2010, following a national trend over the past couple of decades, but obviously we would like to see much more significant progress moving forward,” said Pfundstein today in a press release.
The abortion rate among NY teens as a whole was 63%, 12,139 abortions to 7,207 live births. That means that for every 1,000 babies born among New York City teens, 1,684 were aborted.
According to a citywide poll conducted last year by McLaughlin & Associates and released by The Chiaroscuro Foundation, two-thirds of New Yorkers (64%) think that too many babies are aborted in New York City every year. More than half of city residents (51%) would support a 24-hour waiting period before the abortion procedure. About 63% of city residents would support a parental consent initiative for girls under 18 years of age to abort her baby.
It remains to be seen if the city’s mandatory explicit sex education regimen will bring water or gasoline to the wildfire that is the city’s already rampant and promiscuous sex scene and consequent high abortion rate.

If you were to have children you had to literally "farm them out" to peasants living in rural areas where there was less disease.

While I think ANY abortion is murder, this specific demographic reminds me of Cardinal Ratzinger (later to become Pope Benedict XVI) commenting on the population decline in Western Europe: “How do we mourn the passing of a civilization with such a hand in its own destruction?”

Cain had just starting hitting on the abortion genocide in the black community. It had to scare the crap of the Dems, as he was threatening to finally break them loose of the party. Blacks simply aren’t too hot about having seeing killed and Cain was (accurately) pointing out just who was behind it.
No wonder NYers were only momentarily shocked by the 9-11 attacks. It was more than the usual murders per day. 9-11 was the equivalent of 11 days worth of murders all in 1 day.
An abortion is murder committed by the mother no less. It would difficult be to find a harder hearted people.
The sad part is that most New Yorkers would consider such a statistic as evidence of freedom and well-being, instead of what it truly is: the sacrifice of human innocents to convenience; convenience in the service of irresponsibility, and irresponsibility in the service of self-loathing.
