Wow. That puts things in perspective. I hope all of us take that attitude from here on out. I’m going to share your comment with the freepathon team. They’ll appreciate it.
Norm,
A fence along the Texas portion of the border is not feasible. We have the Rio Grand as our border. The official border runs straight down the middle of the river.
We can’t build a fence on the Mexican side of the Rio because it’s not our property and we can’t maintain it. Putting a fence on our side of the Rio cedes land and water to Mexico. The Rio is an important water source for agriculture down there.
That is why Perry does not support/promote a fence along every inch of the border. Candidates who do are fools and do not understand the logistics of the Texas border. A fence along other than the Texas border can be done - and Perry does support that.
;)
Romney is like Forrest Gump’s box of chocolates: You never know what you’re gonna get.
From your lips to God’s Ears, Jim!
Sometimes we are our own worst enemy.
That’s like saying a kick in the stomach is better than a kick in the jimmies, i.e. technically true but its still gonna hurt.
Watching the candidates getting chopped up on FR is an tired, old sight. I see no indication it is going to stop until Romney is the candidate.
Purging all contrary opinion won’t help but will only weaken FR perhaps fatally and besides opinions must be in conflict in a healthy society. If we want to watch group-thought in action we can always go to DU.
The question is “how will people recognize that the vast majority of Americans are not as conservative as we like?” No matter what they claim they have filled Congress with NON-conservatives. So expecting a conservative who is our first choice to get the nomination, much less win, is folly.
I mean, my God, they elected one of the biggest frauds with NO achievements of value in the history of our Republic just three yrs ago. This indicates mental illness on a massive scale.
“If we tally all actual but Romneys count then we can present all of that as anti Romney and present Santorum as a real win. The more this is done in commentary to the media the more the message gets out. If this becomes a general response across the net weve just memed Romney to the 2nd place. We can all do this easily as we browse the net and media websites this week.
We just need to get a wordsmith to get the gist down so we all pretty much type the same meme to be.”
Maybe that would be a way for Newt and Santorum to team up - in every poll or debate going forward, compare their ‘combined anti-Romney total’ to Romney’s total.
I think we need to start using every excuse to throw in the term ‘anti’Romney’ about vote totals, voter sentiment, in every forum, or posting, or conversation.
How does a guy with no political base (thanks to “conservatives”) win the presidency? It may not be impossible but has never happened. And I love Santorum.
I have been ignoring THAT cheerleader for another candidate for a longtime... lets join in the ignoring part ;)
The individual definitely needs to look in a mirror though when making those accusations :p
If Newt is not the nominee I doubt I vote. I don’t have any other candidate that I like. Probably not popular but how I feel. Give Obama 4 more and be done with it.
If Romney gets the nomination, he’d probably beat Obama but would not substantially change DC (he is too centrist) and only slow down the country’s decline.
If Santorum gets the nomination, he’d probably beat Obama and would make substantial change and substantially slow down the decline, possibly reverse it overtime. Santorum doesn’t care what people think if it goes to his core principles.
I don’t think Gingrich could beat Obama. Too many of my conservative friends say they simply couldn’t vote for him with all the personal baggage and hypocrisy. Plus, I think he is too worried about his place in “history” and would be too accomadative to the media.
I would rather see Santorum/Gingrich. Newt is a little too snooty but would be good behind the scenes.
From "Radio Derb", NRO, 6 Jan 12.......
"Let us not forget that the Catholic Church is, for a significant part, of the liberal-left establishment. With the exception of abortion and euthanasia, on all other social and political issues, the Catholic Church is well outside the center of the conservative/liberal rift.
"On wealth redistribution, immigration, national sovereignty, globalization, welfare, the death penalty, 2nd Amendment rights, the Catholic Church is more liberal than Teddy Kennedy, or Nancy Pelosi, or Joe Biden...to name just three of the Church's congregants. Even more troubling, in a recent encyclical, the Pope called for World Government, which to be quite honest, scares the heck out of me.
"To say that individual Catholics, like Newt or Rick, may actually reside further to the right of doctrine, should they wish, neglects the fact that Catholics are leaning into a fierce headwind by going against the Church on such issues." ---Radio Derb, NRO, 6 Jan 12
How could one not be nervous about this?
I have a confession. I've never been so confused or worried by an election, and still haven't picked a candidate. With each week's news, I seem to be shifting in the breeze of daily negative revelations. Never-the-less, put me down, shakily, for Newt.....well, today anyway.
(Transcript above is my own, apologies for paraphrasing in some places)
True dat.
Asking your permission to use this where appropriate....good stuff.... and puts all things in perspective concerning our candidates.
I disagree, you know exactly what you're going to get: a big-government, pro-abortion, pro-gay socialist.
Yes...if it doesn't get stopped no doubt the nation will fall completely over time. We cannot support it, Dr.s can't doctor under it and the finacial and regulations imposed will finish this nation off.
This administration is doing all it can with or without approval of our representatives...and now obama's going into full campaign mode he's going to give the communists, muslims, and all who once were minorities everything they want and he'll do so by appointing those to head the agency's etc. that can get the job done for him.
I'm very much afraid it may even be too late to wait til the election....he's going to ramrod everything he can thru now.
