Does Boehner have the guts to make a public announcement he won't televise the 'State of the Union' unless the President rescinds the illegal recess appointments? Does he even care about the Constitution?
>> Nah. Its a gimmick.
Agreed.
On the other hand, the entire (R) house caucus standing up for the SOTU, with their backs to The Won, only occasionally turning around to proclaim “Unconstitutional Dictator!” at appropriate moments, might send the proper message.
But Boner certainly doesn’t have the guts to take any EFFECTIVE action.
SOTU - Also known as HGTV night.
My feelings exactly! In the worst cases these "congressmen" are too busy looting the counrty via campaign kickbacks & sweetheart IPO's to bother at doing their actual jobs. Great gig, if you can get it!
The SOTU is a Constitutional requirement, as is freedom of the press.
Denying television coverage of a Constitutional requirement is thus a violation of the First Ammendment.
Instead of a tit-for-tat violation of the Constitution, why not just bring the matter to the attention of the Supreme Court?
If that fails, then the House has the right to cut off funding.
The lawyer guy on Foxnews used the word Imperialist to describe the action.
Also, in this post 9-11 world, I question the wisdom of gathering the top levels of our government into one room. It is the set up for the classic Tom Clancy nightmare
Boner should have all mirrors removed. That would hurt barry.
Amusing idea but he wont do it.
Boehner is there to simulate opposition, not to actually oppose. Punch and Judy show with left hand puppet and right hand puppet.
“but that would take Ballssince Sarah is nowhere to be seen, thats out too.”
****
Palin didn’t run. She didn’t endorse a conservative to stop the RINO Romney establishment. Trying to figure out anything she’s done in the past two years that would support the idea she would act differently than the GOP establishment on this issue. Facebook posts don’t count.
Right, why not? It’s been obvious for a long time that this Administration isn’t even making a pretense of observing the rules...so.... pull the plug on this creep
Yes.
And everything else possible to oppose and thwart this communist regime.
Republicans get your hands out of your pockets and PUSH BACK.
Bring on the tit-for-tat.
Stop hesitating Republicans.
PUSH BACK.
Don’t bother with the cameras; tell der Fuehrer to submit the SOU in writing. There is no Constitutional requirement for the president to present a SOU in person and in fact many presidents up until recent times presented it in writing. The president has to be invited to enter and address the house, he does not dictate anything.
Now, for the sake of reality, Boner and most of his GOP minions do not have the nads to refuse der Fuehrer entry and a podium for his propaganda (with teleprompter of course). For practical purposes, a president in an election year should not be allowed to present a televised SOU to a joint session at all; it is campaigning pure and simple.
FUBO & FAD
Another gimmick.
Maybe they should call for hearings on his ethics.
boehner probably was in on it with mcconnell, obama and pelosi.
LLS
It would make more sense to simply take the Democrat members of the House hostage ~ Boehner can call up the militia to come in and handle that chore for him ~ probably a tad beyond what the Sergeant at Arms can deal with.
The SOTU is a requirement but that is where it ends. There is no requirement for the House to invite the president to present the SOTU in person, so he can be refused, or ignored. Der Fuehrer can submit it in writing like most of our real presidents have done throughout the history of the country. The Constitution specifies that the SOTU will be presented “from time to time” which means that it is not required every year or even by a specific date.
