This is the teenager shot dead by police for brandishing a pellet gun in the hallway of his school - posing with a friend holding the 'weapon'.
Jaime Gonzalez, 15, was gunned down because he would not lower the gun which officers believed was a loaded pistol.
---
He said he heard police run down the hallway and yell 'put the gun down,' before several shots were fired.

Also so that if there is anyone in the back seat they cannot get the drop on you.
“Toy guns now have the orange tips on them to give police a visual cue as to the mature of the gun. Trained to look for the orange tip, an officer would, having not seen such, move on the the determination that it was a real gun.”
I think that’s a bad idea...orange tips. How long before someone paints an orange tip on a REAL 9MM and the cops hesitate...to their own demise??? If you point anything other than your finger at a cop..IMO that cop can shoot your ass. Period.
Depends on where you work. Years ago we were told that only 10% of us would fire our weapons in defense of ourselves or another. That seemed to be a little high, but many times the weapons came out in response to threats.
Along the border the drug cartels are recruiting the young 13 and up kids to do their bidding for selling drugs and in many cases just up the river, are hit men for the gangs. There is no room for second guessing when someone is waving a weapon or pointing it at individuals, especially along the border where drug cartels and killing is becoming commonplace. This is one less Democrat that will be voting.
I would shoot someone who pointed that at me. Especially if I was LE and I had ordered him to put it down.
This may be a “suicide by cop” situation. It happens. Easiest way to die is brandish a gun at LE and refuse to put it down when ordered.
Appears this was suicide by cop. Check out what someone claims this wannabe thug posted on their facebook:
“This was suicide by cop read his posts on his fb months back this kid had issues he made his decision. I feel sorry for his family friends. Just don’t blame the officers for his choice. Of all his friends in FB not one noticed his issues July 7 2011 FB POST “ vali verga medejaron entonse are k me maten eso es verdad” translation I’m screwed they left me I’m going to make them kill me that’s right. Kids if you see any post like that something is wrong. Someone needed to talk to him sadly no one did.”

I have no problem with what this cop did. A pellet gun CAN be a lethal weapon, so the headline is insulting.
This kid will be martyred by the left. But, as someone pointed out, play stupid games win stupid prizes. He was 15 & should’ve known better.
The officers still have to be careful. As with all these well-meaning "safety" approaches, the thugs find a way to negate them rather than be deterred. Now they are using black felt-tip markers to bypass that warning sign.
Sounds more like suicide by cop. Get them to respond, present an apparent threat.
What should this and a non-PC media tell us about the family and or community this teenager was living in?
What would the PC media be saying if he was from a Tea Party family (not that it would ever happen) and they found such photos?
“He posed as a wannabe gang banger. He wanted people to think he was an armed bad guy. He succeeded.”
I came out of my morning shell just to respond to your post.. post of the day winner. Speaks volumes.
Now that’s funny right there.
“This kid did something very stupid with fatal results.”
Darwin Award winner.
Sad
Yeah - it does look real and it is tragic. A bad case of teen hubris and a tough call by police. Is it an airsoft gun? They usually have the orange ring at the end of the barrel.
“15 yr old 8th grader????”
Yeah, I noticed that, too. Would seem to support the idea that the kid was an idiot.
“many times the weapons came out in response to threats.”
Thanks, I should have made the distinction, should have stated “fire” instead of “draw”. Obviously, weapons are drawn more often than fired. Still working on my morning coffee. My point, while perhaps not made clearly, was that the uniformed police officers who shot the kid should not be faulted for doing so as had it been a real hand gun they perhaps had only a second or two to get off the first shot(s). Anyway, glad that no one other than the dumb kid will killed or injured.
There was a thread around Christmas time of children holding semi-automatic weapons having their pictures taken with Santa. The children in that news story were all white children. I think the “gun thing” crosses ethnic boundaries.
“15 yr old 8th grader????”
IIRC kids are about 12 in 6th grade, so normally would be 14 in 8th grade. If your birthday is in January you can be 15 in 8th without having been left back.
Read and study on what exactly is a “pellet gun”...It is REAL...not a toy...A .17cal pellet gun can kill if a person is hit in the “right” place...
Pellet guns have been used for years by some kids in the south for squirrel hunting...
