An adviser to Michele Bachmann says the Minnesota congresswoman is ending her bid to win the Republican presidential nomination after coming in last in the Iowa caucuses.
Bachmann finished sixth out of six candidates in the first of many contests to pick a Republican presidential candidate.
She canceled appearances planned for Wednesday in South Carolina and scheduled a news conference in Des Moines, Iowa, instead.
The adviser requested anonymity to speak before Bachmann makes the announcement.
Mittens is SAD!
Didn’t these guys plan on at least hanging around for a few of the primaries?
Her work is done.
Memo to Cain from the desk of Michele. Bachman : Lumch? We did it!
Yep. Big disappointment in her. whatta hack.
A common-sense decision.
Who she endorses will be telling. I hope she announces support for Rick Santorum...and if not him, then Perry.
We shall see, but this is really the only real course of action she has, to drop out and begin to coalese the field.
Her campaign shows why Republican Presidents virtually never come direct from the House. In addition to not having executive experience, having never won even a statewide election put her at a clear disadvantage outside of a very limited regional appeal.
“Bachmann finished sixth out of six candidates ...”
LOL, there were seven, but I guess Huntsman came in so low they don’t even consider Huntsman to be a factor.
“Her work is done.”
Yep. Goes back to Washington now.
If this reporter can't even get the number of candidates correct, why should we believe anything coming from this media outlet? No wonder it says "staff" as the writer.
I believe Bachmann would have been a pretty good president, not much of a candidate but she could have done the job.
If this reporter can't even get the number of candidates correct, why should we believe anything coming from this media outlet, or most of them? No wonder it says "staff" as the writer.
Good. It’s time the low pollers dropped out. That’s one less individual that Romney can continue to dilute the votes of those of us who are against him.
I appreciate very much all Mrs. Bachmann has done for the Tea Party movement and conservatism. I wish her all the best and hope and pray that she continues to contribute at a high level.
I’m also very happy with her contribution to the primaries. There were key points at which she was the only one who effectively took on and stayed on an important issue. She shaped the race in a good way.
I’m sure it was an arduous task and she seemed to give it her all.
Just want to say thanks, Michelle. Get some rest. Live to fight another day.
“Who she endorses will be telling. I hope she announces support for Rick Santorum...and if not him, then Perry.”
Yes, we shall see very soon, but I would bet she does not endorse anybdy just yet. Perry? No way, not after the way she floored him in that debate with the one-two punch of violating the vaccination rights of “little girls” and selling out for a $5,000.00 campaign donation!
