It’s a story that has played out before: someone thinks if their marriage license and their driver’s license are recognized by the State of New York, their license to carry a gun must be, too. A female medical student at the 9/11 memorial discovered otherwise, here:

The plot thickened. Searching her purse after she tried to do the right thing and declare her little Kel-Tec P32, police found a glassine bag filled with white powder and, not surprisingly, sent it for analysis. The medical student explained that the substance was powdered aspirin. Noo Yawkers don’t know what Southern folks know: powdered aspirin, notably Goody’s and BC Powders, are popular headache remedies south of the Mason-Dixon line, and the defendant and her pistol permit both hail from Tennessee.
For a hundred years, New York’s Sullivan Act has inflicted draconian felony punishment on those who carry or even merely possess handguns, even if they are licensed elsewhere. New York City won’t even recognize a permit issued in Albany or Buffalo. Google Plaxico Burress: even the rich and famous are not immune.
It is common for people innocently and honestly checking firearms at airports in New York to be arrested for felony illegal possession. A victimless crime, classic malum prohibitum, this has a ruinous effect on the lives of dozens of good American citizens every year, not to mention the waste in New Yorkers’ tax dollars. The Tennessee medical student has drawn much sympathy from the general public, and even anti-gun politicians are urging authorities to go easy on the lady, for fear of creating a backlash in favor of House Resolution 822,

There is an old saying that if they pass enough laws everybody eventually becomes a criminal. They are even restrictive on knives there, I hate not even having a good knife. I used to have a sister who lived in the area and would do the wandering tourist thing while visiting there in the years before she died. Sometimes I would drive rather then fly out just so I could bring weapons, fortunately I was taught to keep silent rather then volunteer information so I never ran into an issue. I even had a nice nonmetallic knife for metal detectors. It royally pissed me off that I had to become a criminal when visiting.
If we had a federal government that was worth a shit, they would be sueing any city and state that violates the 2nd amendment rights of the American citizen.
I found that out when I was working in Macon, GA in the '90s. I complained of a headache and a buddy gave me a packet of Goody's. It looked like a paper-wrapped stick of chewing gum. I opened it up and nearly wet myself as the stuff did look like what you see on TV. The claim is that in powder form it is absorbed quicker, but I didn't care how effective it was and never touched the stuff again. All I could see is getting stopped with some of that stuff on me and suffer the same fate as this woman. Part of staying out of trouble is to avoid situations like that.
I cannot wait to see what Karma has in store.
This case needs to go all the way to the top while we still (barely) have a pro-RKBA Supreme Court. End this crap once and for all.
