Similar story about a female medical student from Tennessee last week. She asked a cop and ground zero where she should check her gun.
This should not be happening. But you know who and what runs the state of New York...and, of course, 9/11 never happened.

This is the second such case I’ve read about in the past three or four days, and it disturbs me somewhat. In both cases the people carrying asked where they could “check” their weapon.I live in a legal carry state, there is no place to “check” your piece that I’ve ever seen. You are either legal to carry or not legal. Do these people not have a lick of sense?

And not only does she not have a carry permit, she's a prohibited person, for whom simple possession of a firearm is a federal felony with a mandatory five-year sentence.
Of course, she's one of the "special" people. Can our marine expect similar leniency?
The only thing I can figure out about these two, is that they are part of a movement to get the Sullivan Act and other onerous NYC gun laws repealed.

These stories drive me crazy with how stupid people are. Yes the laws are nazi like, but Jesus Christ people - research the laws before hand!
My advice to any gun owner,even if you posses a concealed carry permit.Stay out of New York City.Its just not worth the aggravation and the legal expense.
I remember back in the 70’s a man trying to obey the law made a mistake in one of the Northern States. The Federal Judge saying the law made no difference and he was forced to give the poor guy a harsh sentence.
The NRA pointed out that this same judge had a reporter come before him. She had bought a gun illegally just to prove how easy it was. The NRA tried to bring a private prosecution as the dA wouldn’t but that same Federal Judge who said it made no difference to the poor slob who made an honest mistake, found that the law suddenly did allow him to release her as she had not intended to break the law.
That bastard judge was perfectly happy to send an innocent man to jail just to push his anti gun agenda.
