It's extremely odd. I'm working in San Diego and hearing updates from the local press/law enforcement as they become available. The F/A 18's divert 45 degrees northwest and directly over my office on the way out to sea. I had many friends that were F-14 pilots/RIOs when Miramar was NAS Miramar.

I'm an Aviation Ordnanceman in the Navy and my wife and I lived in a little apartment on picturesque Coronado Island until just a few months ago. A place where violent crime of any sort was practically unheard of. Needless to say, I've known many naval aviators and continue to be in awe of their skills and courage.

As active duty navy and former Coronado resident, his crime was particularly shocking to me.

Including that the Chula Vista guy was MIT and was the only one described as being shot “multiple times”.
