May 2008, I decided to take a chance, ordered a Sony Bravia 52" from them. They had a great deal, it was $1999 ( super price back then..free shipping, and of course, no sales tax...couldn't find any retailer that could even come close to the price.
The set's delivered exactly when it's supposed to arrive, they even called a few hours early to confirm that I'd be home. The next day, the cable guy arrives...I'm not really god with this stuff, and my cable provider..BriteHouse, offers free installation and hook up of any new sets..and I give the guy a tip, and he hooks up the DVD for me as well, and goes through all the start up stuff.. Well, the TV doesn't work..no picture...I'm starting to worry..we call Amazon, the connect me to Sony technical support...happily for me the cable guy is still there to talk to Sony..as they trouble shoot...they figure out something is broken inside the set, and Sony tells me they can have a repair guy out to my place in two days to fix it. I call Amazon back..tell them I'm not happy, instantly, before I can say anythign more, the guy says they will ship me a new set..it will be there in three days, and they will pick up the damgaged one at the same time..I'm amazed..and very happy...and to this day I order everythign and anythign from Amazon without any worry whatsoever..
Anyone have any experience with HH Gregg..one just opened near me..and a half mle from from the Best Buy...they're supposed to be pretty good...their sales staff isn't commission based..
The one in NoVa near where I live doesn’t seem to have the stock. Also, it is never that busy when I get there.
I got the same deal as you for the Bravia, plus the free Blueray DVD player at Christmas 2008. I was shocked when they delivered it in a crate with free shipping. The TV was marked down from $3600 (price at Best Buy) to $1999 plus free blue ray player delivered to my door for free and no high dollar TN sales tax. BB can kiss my patootie!
I love Amazon. I’ve had to return a few things over the years and have yet to have a problem. They’re amazing.
Stay far away from HH Gregg....if you buy anything with cash over $250 and then need to return it, they make you wait 10 days to get a check from them. Doesn’t matter if you have a receipt. Policy is posted next to the checkout. Hubby and I were going to buy our son a laptop there and my husband had them void the transaction and walked out. They also talked my sister-in-laws father into a credit card he did not want or need. He walked in with cash to buy a TV and they got him so twisted around he got the card (older gentleman). SIL went in a read them the riot act.
Neither is Best Buy's.
Had one open up here, also about a mile from a Best Buy. Have to say, HH GREGG sucks. Prices aren't any better than any of the local retailers, the selection (here anyway) is somewhat limited, and they sell the off-brand "Coby" and no-name stuff for nearly the same price as Sony, Panasonic, etc..
I was looking at a new Onkyo receiver & amp for my home, the same make & model at HH Gregg was more than $120 less at Crutchfield and several other online vendors.
Really don't care for HH Gregg. When they first opened here back in October, their parking lot was full every day. I went by there today on my way to Tiger Direct to pick up some cables that I wanted today, the parking lot was more than half empty while everyone elses' was full. I suspect their time in the market here is going to be pretty short.
