The Talk Shows
January 1st, 2012
Guests to be interviewed today on major television talk shows:
FOX NEWS SUNDAY (Fox Network): 2012 GOP presidential candidates Rick Perry, Ron Paul and Michele Bachmann.
MEET THE PRESS (NBC): 2012 GOP presidential candidate Rick Santorum; Matt Strawn, Iowa GOP chairman.
FACE THE NATION (CBS): Sen. Rand Paul, R-Ky.
THIS WEEK (ABC): 2012 GOP presidential candidates Bachmann and Paul; Gov. Terry Branstad, R-Iowa.
STATE OF THE UNION (CNN): Ron Paul; Branstad; Rep. Steve King, R-Iowa.
The current Rep field has three governors (2 former and one sitting), the former Speaker of the House, a former Senator, and two sitting members of the House. How is that considered to be a weak field? Unfortunately, the Dems and the MSM have been playing Whack-a-Mole with the Rep candidates and conducting in-depth investigations of each of the candidates, something they never did with Obama. Of course, that is the Dem strategy, i.e., to focus on the Rep candidate and not on Obama and his record and policies.
And life insurance.
Speeding tickets, accidents, duis, all are matters of record and cause higher premiums, sometimes VERY much higher. And I dont blame the insurance companies for that at all.
That's what insurance is...assessing risk and then offering to assume claims....for a predetermined premium.
Health insurance is a little less cut and dried. How fat is too fat? According to my domestic partner, anything over 115 pounds is too fat.
Have you ever answered the underwriting questions on a life app? They ask you if you race motorcycles.
How does anyone know if you smoke only at home. Its all a little murky.
They can use a saliva test or hair test to see if you smoke or take drugs. They probably wouldn't get all that nit-picky. Obesity, chronic disease, smoking and age could be legitimate factors.
Theyll have to take my Miller Lite out of my cold dead hands, is all I know.
I doubt that they would care unless the proposed insured was a fall-down drunk alcoholic.
You don’t think Mitt’s 100% flip-flopping, Romney-care and his religion with its bizarre beliefs aren’t major baggage? Think BHO et al won’t go there? Oh, they WILL go there. Newt has a record of some very major achievements for conservatives.
None of these candidates are without flaws, so we’d best stop looking for perfection. The only one who won’t wither against BHO and the media is Newt. I wish I could say Perry as well, but sadly not. Mittens would be abysmal when challenged (just like in ‘08) - so far he hasn’t been challenged. The media’s given him a pass because they want him as nominee. That fact alone is reason enough not to support him.
In watching some of the Iowa appearances by Perry, Santorum, and the other candidates, it looked to me like Perry’s crowds were heavily “senior” or older crowds, compared to the others. I wonder how this will play out in the voting, or if it means anything in particular?
There has to be a reason when you turn on msnbc and see they are all Romney bots. One of Rush's guesses is that Romney helps to neutralize Obamacare since he will have a hard timer running against it.
This fact alone has to be blood in the water for the left since they have absolutely nothing positive to run on and are running away from zerocare as fast as they can!
If they had a candidate who also had his own Mittcare one would have to be blind not to see how much easier it would make things for them.
Until you read the polls which suggest that currently Romney polls 5-6 points higher than zero suggesting he's getting some of those white guilt middle of the roaders who have grown disenchanted with the Dear Leader for obvious reasons.
In the end it appears that Romney may be the safer/easier choice of the RNC to beat zero but the base may well side with Newt for many good sound reasons. Either case it's getting interesting.
Break out the popcorn.
Yes I saw much of the interview and as usual learned a lot from Rush.
Really think that’s what matters most? How do you explain the great appeal of Christie??
In the immortal words of Ron White, you can lose weight but you can’t fix stupid. Newt’s the sharpest knife in this drawer and would mortify BHO in public debates.
But, if you read between the lines he has inferred, IMHO, that the most electable and brightest conservative in the race is Newt and it's not even close.
By the way, my domestic partner is male, I’m married to him and have been for longer than Rick Perry has been in politics.
It’s the last impression that counts.
I had no doubt.
You gotta wonder about Hollyweird where anyone even remotely associated with aids becomes a rock star.
Insurance is a business.
Business exists to make money.
Insurance companies should not be forced to insure high risk people without commensurate premiums.
Bottom line.
AGreed! Iowa will be all about corn and real soon!
Romney has extensive executive experience in the public and private sectors plus impressive academic credentials. He graduated in 1975 cum laude from Havard law school, in the top third of that class, and was named a Baker Scholar for graduating in the top five percent of his business school class receiving his MBA.
Bachmann has executive experience helping her husband run their business. Ron Paul worked as an obstetrician and gynecologist during the 1960s and 1970s, delivering more than 4,000 babies, before entering politics in 1976. He started his own private practice in 1968. Huntsman has been a governor, Ambassador, and had private business experience at the executive level.
I don't know what your definition of "substantial executive experience" is, but every remaining Rep in the field has had much more in the way of executive experience than Obama or Hillary or Kerry or Biden.
I’d be okay with Santorum.
Buy some antique fishing gear for me MM!!
