Gingrich Floats Sarah Palin As Possible Vice President Pick
Real Clear Politics ^ | 30 December 2011 | RCP

Posted on 12/30/2011 2:34:24 PM PST by Erik Latranyi

Newt Gingrich tells a tele-townhall that Sarah Palin is someone to be considered for the Vice Presidency or Energy Secretary.

Caller: If you’re fortunate enough to be nominated, would you consider having Sarah Palin as your running mate?

Gingrich: She is certainly one of the people you would look at. I am a great admirer of hers and she was a remarkable reform governor of Alaska, she’s somebody who I think brings a great deal to the possibility of helping in government and that would be one of the possibilities.

Newt looks better all the time. Much better than an all mormon ticket of Mittens and Huntsman

The OWS protester at the 1:50 mark of the video is classic. She bumps her head and falls.. perfect.

I would rather he leave it up to the actual nominee.

Personally, i think this may be how Perry (or Santorum) could spark a wave of new-found support. If nothing else, it sure would make this thing more interesting. I'm growing bored with watching The Annointment & Coronation of Myth Romney by pollsters, dems, GOP-Elites, and the press.

If it happens, stock up on the popcorn!

He was until being outspent 38 to one in Iowa.

The conservative vote is being split four ways: Newt/Santorum/Perry/Bachmann.

Btw, go ahead and write in a quitter's name. LOL!

"If you’re fortunate enough to be nominated, would you consider having Sarah Palin as your running mate?"

Only hussein would answer this question with No. Newt's answer is the ONLY answer.

Did you know he doesn’t get to pick a VP if he’s not the nominee? What part of the process is unclear?

I am getting terrible at reading. Too much perusing headlines and then firing off a round! I did finally catch up on the postings, and responded for my goof up, up thread.
Thanks for trying to keep me informed. I can be very blonde.

Yes, that's my point. He won't get to pick a VP. And the Palin mention is rather obtuse. If Palin threw her hat in the ring today for the Presidential race, then she would be polling at 50%, and Newt would be calling her begging to be her VP.

Come on people, he was specifically asked about Palin as a VP - what candidate would say anything different if asked that? Sarah Palin had her chance to run, she chose not to. She certainly is not going to demote herself down to run as a VP - people need to get over that. Really.

One more time for the clueless posters in this thread. The caller asked him about Sarah Palin. Newt responded to the question. I feel Newt gave a truthful answer and it shows his thinking process. I like it. GO NEWT!

This is almost a joke. You really think he's even considering her?? Well, maybe for 30 seconds.

He's just being kind and "positve". What kind of response did they expect. Newt's response is a "duh".

Newt's answer is the ONLY answer.

The correct answer is to say that it is premature to be speculating on who the VP nominee is going to be, and that right now he is concentrating on getting his message of ___(fill in the blank)___ out there. Unfortunately, Gingrich's ego wouldn't allow it.

“Sounds to me that Newt is insecure about his candidacy and feels the need to drop Sarah Palin’s name to get better poll numbers.”

If you read the story how could a person come to that conclusion? Next question is do you vote as you seem to have reading comprehension problems?

“My God, this is the first desperate thing I’ve seen Newt do. Ever.”

Didn't bother to read the article or listen to the vid before commenting hey?

Newt was ASKED and Responded.

Seems you're the one who spit in their whistle on this one.

Did you read the article? I didn't until a few moments ago.I assumed accuracy from the title. He praises Palin like no other publicly but for an energy secretary. The caller and others wants her as VP. I just want to know which Palinista FReeper was the caller :). Drudge's title leaves Gingrich in a pinch of how to correct the inaccurate red title on drudge.

I am a great admirer of hers, and she was a remarkable reform governor of Alaska. So, she’s somebody that I think brings a great deal to the possibility of helping in government, and that would be one of the possibilities. There are also some very important Cabinet positions that she could fill very, very well. I can’t imagine anybody who would do a better job of driving us to an energy solution than Gov. Palin, for example. So, tell her she certainly would be on the list of one of the people we would consider.

Newt does respect her. Palin is a gutsy woman who endured as much from the media as Newt has...if the media hates them both...I love them. Only one I have heard Gingrich mention so far for a cabinet position is John Bolton. That is a dynamite team!
