well, with the wildness of this primary, I must say, if Perry were somehow able to manage a victory, that would probably vault him back up in SC. After that, who knows?
This is a crazy primary.
It is crazy. But for Perry, Santorum, Gingrich and Bachmann splitting the conservative vote, Mittens would get slaughtered along with the nutball Paul.

I am sure you’re exactly right. Wondered also if Rick comes off as far more South-ey than G.W. did? The regional biases are not entirely dead, and I think maybe this has affected his numbers, as well as the early debate debacle. He is so-o awesome and energetic, and fresh. I like him. Can you be turned back for reasons of minority twange language?
It’s sad that conservatives are so stupid. Romney vs anyONE in the South, Midwest, most of the West would be a Romney loss. Romney vs. AnyTWO or AnyTHREE is a Romney victory. But Conservatives have to have their perfect candidate and even when they see their guy/gal floundering (i.e. didn’t get on the ballot in some states) they harbor comeback fantasies that keep the vote split. Sad, Sad, Sad. We really are the Stupid Party.
Just about the most frequent question I get asked is “who are you going to vote for?” The simple answer to that question is “no one” because I am not a registered Republican and I have no plans on changing that.
I have been reluctant to answer the question because it will not be an endorsement and I don’t want it taken as an endorsement. Why? Because I don’t believe anyone is waiting on the edge of their seat to get guidance from me as to whom they should or should not vote for. My audience is way smarter than that and the people will come to their own conclusions. As I have said repeatedly on the air, everyone should vote their conscience.
I have also, until now, been unable to answer that question because I hadn’t made my mind up.
With the exception of Jon Huntsman and Ron Paul who I have publicly rejected for different reasons (Huntsman because of his contempt for my State and Paul because I believe that when it comes to foreign policy, he is actually dangerous), all of the remaining candidates are worthy of consideration.
I have always been looking for strong Conservatives of character, who not only talk the talk, but who walk the walk in their own personal lives as well. I narrowed it down to two who met those basic and essential criteria for me and then finally one.
The two are Congresswoman Michele Bachmann and Texas Governor Rick Perry. I have spent considerable time with both of them and have gotten to know them on a personal level as well interviewing them on numerous occasions.
This has been a real problem for me because it would be easy for me to say I was going to vote for either one of them.
You know exactly where you are with Michele Bachmann. You know her positions on all the important issues and you know she is solid in all of them and passionate about all of them as well. Her priority would be the repeal of Obamacare and that, in and of itself, would give a huge lift to our failing economy. She is an outstanding leader with a spine of titanium who is reminiscent to me in so many ways of the British Prime Minister, Margaret Thatcher. She would be an exceptional President and someone who we could all be proud of.
Rick Perry has been successfully running the 13th largest economy on the planet for the last 11 years and has been doing it very well – creating a climate for job creation against a backdrop of worldwide recession. You cannot ignore that. He is a small Government Conservative who will help bring about a balanced budget and a flat tax, while reigning in Congressional excesses and promising to veto any Bill that contains an earmark. He will be strong on our national defense and will seal our leaky borders within the first 12 months of taking office. And when it comes to foreign policy – simply put, he gets it. He’s also a nice guy by the way and he will make an extraordinary President.
I would love to simply leave it at that, but that would not be answering the question.
I can only choose one of these two and so I have finally decided that my one vote, if I were to exercise that right, would go to Rick Perry. His Executive experience in running Texas is what pushed him over the winning line for me. I truly hope that as President, Rick Perry will persuade Michele Bachmann to serve in a very senior capacity within his Administration because you can never have too many very smart people of character in any President’s Administration.
