Decker: What would tax reform look like in a Bachmann administration?
Bachmann: ...
First, it is only fair that everyone should contribute something to the core government services. Everyone benefits and everyone needs to pay something.
Today, we live in a world where only 53 percent of Americans pay federal income tax, 47 percent pay nothing. People who pay nothing can easily forget the idea that there is no such thing as a free lunch.
...
Decker: The media have announced that the GOP primary is now a two-man race between Mitt Romney and Newt Gingrich. This seems premature, especially given the musical chairs in the top positions of the field. Clearly, Republicans have not all decided on a favorite yet. You came out of the gates charging and impressively won the Iowa straw poll in August but have since been surpassed. What separates you from your competition, and what can you do to rekindle your early success this late in the game?
...
Bachmann: What separates me from the rest of the field is that there are no surprises in my record. You wont YouTube clips of me advocating for abortion. You wont find me sitting on a sofa with Nancy Pelosi or taking millions of dollars to peddle influence in Washington, D.C. And every American can be sure that I will act to keep our country free, safe and sovereign and wont wait until were attacked to act.

Ergo, Newt Romney.
Now it affects the top 53%, and, in its manifestation as the Social Security FICA it hits 100%.
I think it's a failure and it's time to come up with some other way of funding the federal government.
Pretty sound positions.
If this article didn’t have the name Bachman attached to it, every Freeper would be saying “right on!”.
Sadly, the media and punditry have shaped this process so much that they are determining who are the winners and losers before people even have a say.
I can’t wait to hear these experts’ excuses if a Santorum comes in second. That includes the Krauthammer and Roves. Already today some pundit on Fox was trying to cover his bets by saying that is Santorum comes in third, it will be meaningless. Yet last week, if Romney or Paul finished third, it was a strong showing, blah, blah.
Let’s face it - the Establishment is still in charge of the Republican party, and still considers those of Tea Party beliefs rude, ignorant rubes.
Only TWO questions:
- Has she ever been a tax lawyer?
- How many dozen kids has she raised?
The defections from her campaign appear to be more about their 'fair weather friends' than a disrespect for her solidity.
If she had had more money up front, I believe most of them would not have left.
Actually, she is better off without them.
In my brief exposures to national politics, one constant was the total lack of convictions and beliefs of the vast majority of those who work political campaigns. They are in it for themselves, and hope that by hitching onto some candidates star they will propel themselves to great wealth, power, and fame. And for not a few, it works. Think Stephanopoulous, Gergen, Rollins, Jody Powell, Dick Morris, Beckel - all people without principles who will switch their loyalties in a heartbeat if it will improve their status or income.
A large proportion of FReepers have joined the throng sneering that Bachmaan is a “whiner,” that she is “like my bitch, the ex-wife.” Well, if people want a pudgy overaged wimp who sat his butt on a sofa beside Nancy Pelosi and proclaimed the need to deal with “global warming,” then they were never conservatives to start with. Bachmann is by far the most conservative candidate. So was Duncan Hunter in 2008, but FReepers deserted him for lazy Fred Thompson. It’s time to take a stand, folks. Forget who the country-clubbers want. Forget who the MSM wants. Back a real conservative.
That’s got to be the post of the month.
Every Iowan should have that typed on a post-it(tm) and stuck to their forehead.
Perhaps it could be in the link banner on FR so folks keep it in mind.
Fred Thompson was an establishment front, as it turned out.
