An off-duty police officer has been charged with executing a man in a sports bar - after an argument over a game of darts.

Riverside County sheriff's deputy Dayle Long, 42, allegedly shot Samuel Vanettes, 36, three times, leaving him to die on the floor of the bar in Murrieta, California.

SNIP

An altercation allegedly broke out after the police officer told one of the friends 'I’m better at darts than you are', Chris Hull, 39, told Patch.com.

'My buddy says, "Aw, you suck at darts". (The man) says, "That’s why I’m a cop, I can do whatever I want to do".'

Hull tsaid his friend asked; 'Really, you can do anything?'

The police officer then pulled out his gun, Hull claimed and after the group repeatedly asked him to put it away he 'pops three rounds into my friend Sam'.

The ten-year department veteran appeared at the Southwest Justice Center in French Valley in a red prison uniform, on Friday charged with murder.

Every single one of them love their families, are honest and god-fearing. Each would bravely died in the line of duty to protect anyone here.

So where did all the 4$$holes who run their mouths at the gym come from?

According to this article and others so far, there was no fist fight, no shoving match, nothing, between the shooter and the victim, with the victim being unarmed. No fight, no pushing, no nothing, just some exchanged words, and 3 rounds into the victim.

Yeah, I am extremely surprised by this.

I am not. An increasing bulk of cops have become brownshirts with no regard for non-cops. They have nearly perfected the we/them mindset and will become increasingly dangerous as they acquire recent military cast off equipment as well as a military view of “ us” as the enemy.

I understand your concern regarding law enforcement, and how they are becoming a paramilitary like, with the, "Us vs them" attitude, however I am just looking at the specific circumstances of this particular case.

Again, no shoving match, no fight, in fact these two really did not know each other prior to the shooting...This was a sports bar that had nearly 25 people in it, during happy hour...It was not late, and the victim had no weapon.

Trust me, this particular case/incident is totally off the charts, and very disturbing.

Rank and file representatives and senators get $174,000 per year, the Speaker, 223,500, the Senate Majority and Minority leaders, $193,400, each.

I am hoping you do not think this is somehow legitimate.

Look, I know of cops that retire at 49 years old, and receive $75,000 per year in retirement, for life and top shelf medical benefits for life, all on the tax payers backs.

This is not legitimate or acceptable, by any stretch of the imagination.

Like a child who gies from abusing animals to killing people the police have gone from casually shooting the family dog who posed no threat to casually shooting people who pose no threat. Remember the kid face down on the subway siding two or so years ago shot point blank by a transit cop? This is perhaps disturbing but no longer surprising. Cops are more out of control than in control and they no longer see taxpayers as their boss.

In the CA subway incident, the defense was the LEO thought he was pulling at taser when during the moment of an actual arrest, where the suspect was not cooperating. He actually pulled his service weapon and fired point blank. I would guess in the heat of the moment this is possible, we're all human, but who knows.

My point was, according to what I have read in this incident, there was not fight, no arrest in progress, no pushing, shoving, and the victim was not armed.

This is why I said, this incident, from what I have read so far, is off the charts.

You are a far more generous person if you can believe that crap about drawing a gun and thinking it was a taser. Increasingly I view cops as just another street gang.

You have a lot of people who agree with you. I for one am very disturbed at local law enforcement becoming para-military in nature, and treating citizens as some foreign enemy. I've seen it close up. I do not support this.

On the other hand, not all cops are bad, and many cops believe it or not, agree with me in regards the WOD for instance. It's done nothing but expand the size of government, while increasing their control, allowing them to become more intrusive. While at the same time, creating epic violent crime industries who make a good living off drugs.

What the WOD won is bigger more intrusive government and government job security, all at the expense of the tax payers.

In regards to the CA subway incident, yes it's possible the LEO drew his service weapon thinking it was his taser...I know, hard to believe, but possible in the heat of an arrest with an uncooperative suspect. As I said, we're all human, who knows.

But this incident seems very different. There was no arrest in progress, an unarmed suspect and based on witness accounts so far, no apparent fight, no pushing, no nothing, with the victim being shot to death.

BTW, based on what I have read here and elsewhere, since they were allegedly playing darts, the only speculation I have is the victim might have threatened the LEO with a steel dart. I don’t know. It’s just pure speculation on my part.

Would this justify it? Don’t know. Hopefully the investigation will reveal exactly what occurred, considering the sport bar had 20-30 people inside at the time.

In my youth, this was the type of cop we had.

Now this is who we have keeping peace and order.

Sad state of affairs.

It’s because we’re so darned fascinating — particularly anything that smears us, or can serve as a prop to some politician or political party in You-Rope.

If you think pointing a dart at someone justifies taking their life you should not be allowed to have fire arms.

You should read all the words carefully prior to responding.

I would imagine if ya walked up to a cop, with a something like dart, with a two inch sharp steel tip, with bad intentions, in a threatening manner, you'd get dropped like a bad habit. I wouldn't recommend it.

But once again, I was only speculating above and clearly indicated that. In addition, if ya read the rest of my posts here, you'll find, based on what has been reported so far, this was likely not the case in regards to this particular incident.

BTW, I only have an old Daisy BB rifle and last I saw it, it was all rusted up.

Some cops seem to think they should emulate that cyborg, and not Sheriff Taylor.

They make a bad name for the good ones.
