U.S. Rep. Donald Manzullo sent a letter to Boehner, asking him to call the Congress back into session, and stating his intention to resist the President's request to raise the debt ceiling. Illinois is very proud of Rep. Manzullo.

I thought they kept the house in some sort of session to keep zero from appointing anyone during the recess. Could this not open the door to him finding a way to stop it?

They raised the debt ceiling less than 6 months ago. If they do the same trick again, the next "crisis" will come at about the time both parties have their political conventions.

My prediction: the GOP will botch the whole thing, Obama will take a firm, principled and patriotic stance, and will sail to re-election based on the media's swooning over his masterful statesmanship.

Five largest Wall Street banks impact 2/3 of US GDP. These banks made bad investments and the US gov decided to assume their losses in order to preserve economic stability. It means the US gov must borrow to pay off maturing debt and increases in cost. Refuse to raise the debt ceiling, the bonds used to finance the bank bailout cannot be replaced with new bonds purchased by the increase in debt ceiling. Gov implodes, the banks implode, the economy implodes.
Lesson learn, never let one US industry dominate a sizable chunk of the GDP, especially the one that has a reputation of leveraging, creating financial bubbles that burst and destroy 11 million US jobs in an instant and an industry that will not hesitate to repeat the damage over and over and over. Until the American nation can find a way to shed this yoke, punish the bankers for their ponzi scheme and reduce the banks down to size and replace it with an industry that makes things in an honest open way, we will be condemn to this road of chaos and suffering.

It’s time for the Republican House and Senate to pick some new leaders. Leaders with intestinal fortitude that will challenge Zero at every turn. MItch and John are just undersized for their current position.

You may be correct in observation, but are lacking in reality. Republicans with intestinal fortitude? Never happen. If they couldn’t have guts the last time they held both houses, then how can we expect them to grow a set if they were to get the majority in both houses again?

I live in Manzullo’s old district (16) and while he’s been a quiet backbencher, he has his head on straight. Now, thanks to the gerrymandered RAT-controlled redistricting, he’s got to run against Adam Kinzinger.

When I think about the incredible mess the RAT party has made in Illinois, the fact that those lowdown bastiges are doing everything they can to put more Democrats in power just really makes me mad.

Of course you can - I do a lot of that. We just have to remember not to confuse our dreams with reality!

Your Rep Manzullo appears to be
maquis après la guerre

That's froggie lingo for being loudly brave went it doesn't count. That, unfortunately is a true 21st Century Republican. The Mombasa MF has played Boehner and the entire Republican Majority in The House for chumps.

Program. Plan. Leader. Still looking.

Don Manzullo is/was my Congressman too. My husband put up hundreds of his campaign signs. It makes me sick how he was gerrymandered out of our area. He and his wife Freida are wonderful people. I hope he wins BIG TIME in his new area.
